We seek a talented cloud platform engineer to shape the foundation of our mission critical systems. Our Cloud Platform powers the secure infrastructure, devops culture, and site reliability engineering for applications like Butterfly Cloud in support of high-availability workflows, HIPAA-compliant data processing, robust enterprise connectivity and the world’s largest medical image database. As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be to:
- Engineer and automate our cloud environments for security, reliability, scale, and compliance.
- Collaborate with teams to understand their needs, while recommending best devops and infrastructure practices.
- Build modern, maintainable solutions for cloud infrastructure, operational visibility, CI/CD pipelines, incident management, and security using the best technologies available, including Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, Datadog, AWS, and more.
- Cultivate and spread a healthy devops culture.
- Be a solid mentee and mentor on a growing team to help achieve our goals.
- Perform a broad variety of tasks in support of the role and responsibilities
Qualifications
Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:
- 8+ years in any of SRE, DevOps, Infrastructure, or similar experience engineering and automating modern cloud environments, such as AWS or GCP, at scale.
- Experience with
- Managing infrastructure using modern Infrastructure as Code like Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, EKS.
- Software engineering background: able to adapt to a variety of programming, scripting, and configuration languages.
Ideally, you also have skills and experience with some of these (but it’s ok if you don’t!):
- System design, ideally in a cloud environment such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Incident management and response
- CI/CD tools like Github Actions, Spacelift, etc.
- SQL (particularly PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases
- Running managed Kubernetes in secure production environments (for example, using EKS to orchestrate a healthcare or financial application)
- HIPAA, PHI, PII, FedRAMP, SOC II, or SOX compliance
