Job Overview
The Senior Development Operations (DevOps) Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines, managing and optimizing current tools and providing automation and integration solutions. This role plays a critical part in improving software development efficiency, ensuring system reliability, and enhancing deployment workflows. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in DevOps methodologies, containerization, and monitoring solutions to support high-performance development teams.
Essential Functions
• Design, develop, and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines to automate software builds, testing, and deployment.
• Optimize and enhance existing deployment processes to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
• Automate system provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment.
• Ensure architectural designs are well documented, consistent, flexible and scalable.
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery best practices are in place.
• Implement DevSecOps industry best practices.
• Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
• Troubleshoot system issues, identify performance bottlenecks, and improve overall system reliability.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve application performance, scalability, and resilience.
• Develop and enforce incident response and disaster recovery procedures.
• Work closely with software engineers, security teams, and IT operations to streamline DevOps workflows.
• Provide technical assistance to staff to resolve issues in a timely manner
• Identify and evaluate new technologies to expand enterprise capability and efficiency.
• Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Competencies
• Strong expertise in continuous integration and continuous deployment tools such as GitLab CI and Jenkins
• Ability to integrate both cloud-based or on-premises tooling and deployment infrastructure
• Experience automating and integrating pipelines from software repositories (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket)
• Knowledge maintaining artifact management tools such as Artifactory.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes and Docker
• Solid knowledge of monitoring, logging, and security best practices.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
• Familiarity with networking, load balancing, and CDN solutions.
• Knowledge of database management and performance tuning for SQL and NoSQL databases.
Education / Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Google Professional DevOps Engineer, or Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) are a plus.
Experience
• 5+ years of experience in a DevOps engineering role.
• Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience GitLab and Atlassian Tools
• Experience with microservices architecture and container orchestration.
• Experience working in military contracting or DoD industry preferred.
