About Gallatin
At Gallatin, we are rebuilding defense logistics for the warfighters of the United States and allied forces. We take an AI-first approach to improve defense readiness through software products that streamline and modernize logistics operations from factory to foxhole, resulting in better decisions and outcomes.
We believe that you won’t change the world by phoning it in, and as such, we work from our office in El Segundo, California.
About The Role
We’re seeking a DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer with strong software engineering skills to design, build, and scale the infrastructure that powers our AI-driven logistics platform. You will play a central role in ensuring our systems are reliable, secure, and deployable across multiple classification levels, including government clouds and highly classified environments. This role combines infrastructure expertise with disciplined software engineering practices, leveraging technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker to deliver maintainable, high-quality code for deployment automation, CI/CD pipelines, and developer tooling. In addition, you’ll contribute directly to packaging applications and deploying artifacts into Palantir’s Foundry Marketplace and through Apollo.
What You'll Do
Infrastructure & Deployment
- Package applications and deploy artifacts into Palantir’s Foundry Marketplace, with ongoing support for deployment through Apollo.
- Build, maintain, and optimize Git-based workflows for development, release, and deployment, enabling high-velocity engineering while ensuring compliance and security.
- Design, manage, and scale Kubernetes clusters with Helm charts.
- Develop and operate CI/CD pipelines that integrate testing, security scanning, and artifact deployment.
- Define, manage, and monitor infrastructure-as-code to ensure reproducibility and security across environments.
- Proactively implement observability practices (logging, monitoring, alerting) for infrastructure and deployed services.
DevOps & Engineering
- Write and maintain high-quality code to automate deployment, scaling, and monitoring processes.
- Build internal tools and services that improve developer productivity, reliability, and platform security.
- Implement robust testing strategies (unit, integration, performance) for infrastructure code and pipelines.
Security & Compliance
- Support deployments into GovCloud and higher-classification environments (IL5+), ensuring compliance with security and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborate with security teams to manage secrets, enforce least-privilege access, and strengthen infrastructure hardening.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with backend, AI/ML, frontend, and product teams to streamline code deployment and integration.
- Actively review and improve deployment processes, tooling, and infrastructure reliability.
- Contribute to team knowledge sharing through documentation and mentorship.
- Embrace AI-assisted development processes, using modern AI tooling to improve efficiency and code quality.
What We’re Looking For
Strong Technical Background
- Practical experience with Kubernetes and Helm, including managing production deployments, along with a track record of working with containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong Git skills, including creating and maintaining custom workflows for branching, CI/CD triggers, and deployment automation.
- Solid software engineering skills with proficiency in languages such as Python, Typescript, and Bash/shell scripting.
- Experience with cloud providers (AWS preferred; GovCloud experience a plus).
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar).
- Familiarity with container registries and artifact management (e.g., Docker Hub, ECR, Nexus).
- Working knowledge of networking, security groups, and IAM configuration in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar).
- Experience implementing and managing incident response/on-call systems such as PagerDuty or OpsGenie.
Problem-Solving & Communication
- Strong debugging skills across distributed systems.
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to clearly communicate technical concepts.
- Willingness and ability to participate in an on-call rotation to ensure system reliability.
Growth Mindset
- Passion for continuous learning in DevOps, distributed systems, and secure deployment.
- Willingness to adapt tooling and workflows to unique defense and classified environments.
- Comfort with AI-assisted development processes and a desire to leverage them effectively.
Bonus Points
- Experience building and deploying applications for Palantir Foundry, including Marketplace and Apollo.
- Prior experience deploying software into GovCloud, IL5+, or classified environments.
- Knowledge of defense or logistics industries and accreditation processes.
- Contributions to open-source DevOps or infrastructure tooling.
Why Gallatin?
- Join a mission-driven, high-impact, and fast-moving startup where your work directly improves defense logistics readiness for the warfighters of the United States and allied forces.
- Work alongside a team of passionate engineers, designers, and industry experts.
- Competitive compensation including generous options grants, 100% employer-paid health insurance premiums, 401k, opportunities for rapid career growth, unlimited PTO, and free lunches and snacks in the office.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain relevant security clearances. The successful candidate must be able to work in a classified environment when necessary.
