Job Title: DevOps Infrastructure Engineer
Location: 100% Onsite – Longmont, Colorado

Job Overview:
We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain a secure, scalable, and hybrid CI/CD infrastructure using GitHub Actions, container orchestration (Nomad or Kubernetes), and on-prem hardware systems. You will lead the infrastructure setup for various internal research projects, ensuring high availability and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and deploy self-hosted GitHub Actions runners.
- Build and manage secure CI/CD pipelines for internal and external GitHub repositories.
- Set up and maintain physical servers, including OS installation and network configuration.
- Implement container orchestration (Nomad preferred; Kubernetes acceptable).
- Automate infrastructure using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and scripting (Bash/Python/Go).
- Monitor and troubleshoot systems, networks, and CI/CD pipeline failures.
- Collaborate with development teams to support research workflows.
- Ensure infrastructure meets security and compliance standards.
- Document infrastructure designs, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions, especially self-hosted runners.
- Strong background in Linux system administration and networking.
- Experience with container orchestration – preferably Nomad, or Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in scripting languages: Bash, Python, or Go.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools: Terraform and/or Ansible.
- Experience managing physical servers and networks.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience with Nomad.
- Prior work in hybrid infrastructure environments (on-prem + cloud/workflows).
- Experience in secure infrastructure design.
