The Planet Group has partnered with a Cincinnati area company to locate a Cloud Engineer for a full-time role.
Please note that this position does require five days a week onsite work in the Cincinnati location. As it isfulltime role, we cannot work C2C with any candidate or Third Party Vendor.
We are for an experienced Cloud Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable cloud solutions within a large enterprise environment. This role serves as a key technical leader and trusted advisor to multiple project teams, ensuring the organization’s cloud infrastructure is optimized for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Terraform, and DevOps automation practices, along with a strategic mindset for driving continuous improvement and mentoring others.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and deploy cloud-based infrastructure and services using Terraform, GitLab, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Manage and optimize cloud resources to ensure high availability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Partner with development, security, and operations teams to define and implement best practices for cloud architecture and deployment.
- Monitor systems proactively to identify performance issues, implement improvements, and maintain reliability and uptime.
- Configure and manage cloud networking, identity, and security frameworks to safeguard organizational data and ensure compliance.
- Automate provisioning, scaling, and maintenance workflows using scripting tools such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Support CI/CD initiatives by integrating infrastructure as code (IaC) into DevOps pipelines.
- Provide technical leadership on cloud strategy and architecture decisions, contributing to long-term roadmap planning.
- Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across teams to promote cloud maturity and operational excellence.
- Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, deployment procedures, and security controls.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Information Technology with at least 5 years focused on cloud engineering and architecture.
- Proven experience designing and managing large-scale cloud environments, preferably on GCP.
- 4+ years of experience managing cloud networking, IAM, and security configurations.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM.
- Strong background in containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes and Docker in production settings.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues and maintain high availability standards.
- Experience developing or contributing to cloud strategy and roadmap initiatives.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies for automated delivery and deployment.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
