Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled MSP Cloud Engineer to join our Managed Services Practice (MSP) and take ownership of ongoing AWS cloud operations, support tickets, and proactive management of client environments. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a service-oriented environment and enjoys problem-solving, automation, and continuous optimization of cloud infrastructure. The MSP Cloud Engineer will ensure stability, performance, and security across multiple customer AWS accounts while delivering exceptional customer service and contributing to continuous improvement of our MSP frameworks and automation toolsets.
The ideal candidate is technically strong in AWS, passionate about operational excellence, and comfortable working across diverse client environments, from startups to enterprise workloads.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary engineer for ongoing MSP operations, including monitoring, incident response, patch management, and infrastructure optimization within AWS environments.
- Manage and resolve incoming MSP support tickets, ensuring timely and accurate technical resolutions while maintaining clear communication with clients.
- Implement and maintain best practices for AWS MSP cost optimization, tagging, and governance.
- Support and automate operational processes such as backup validation, patching, IAM policy reviews, and security posture assessments.
- Collaborate with cloud architects and security teams to implement and maintain well-architected AWS solutions in alignment with Aligned TG’s best practices.
- Proactively monitor system health and performance metrics, identifying opportunities for cost savings, scaling improvements, and risk mitigation.
- Participate in client onboarding processes, ensuring new AWS environments are set up according to MSP standards and operational readiness checklists.
- Leverage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation tools (e.g. CDK CloudFormation, Lambda) to improve efficiency and consistency across environments.
- Contribute to knowledge base documentation, runbooks, and automation scripts to enhance team efficiency and reduce time-to-resolution.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support 24/7 managed service coverage.

Qualifications
Required Experience
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience managing AWS environments in a managed services, operations, or DevOps capacity.
- Proven track record of managing cloud incidents, service requests, and operational tasks via ticketing systems.
- Strong knowledge of core AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Security Hub, Guard Duty, Cost Explorer and Lambda.
- Experience implementing AWS Well-Architected Framework best practices for security, reliability, and cost optimization.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, CDK or CloudFormation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Linux and Windows environments.
Technical Requirements
- Proficiency with AWS CLI, and automation scripting (Python, PowerShell, or Bash).
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, VPN, load balancing, routing).
- Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as CIS, SOC2, or ISO 27001.
- Understanding of ITSM and change management best practices in MSP environments.
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect (Associate or higher) strongly preferred.
