Job Overview
The GCP Cloud Architect will lead the architecture, design, and implementation of the client's enterprise-grade Google Cloud Platform environment. This role is responsible for building scalable landing zones, establishing secure infrastructure patterns, and driving modernization of legacy systems using GCP-native services. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong security grounding, and hands-on experience architecting cloud solutions for large, regulated enterprises.
Key Responsibilities
GCP Architecture & Landing Zone
- Design and implement GCP Landing Zones including VPCs, subnets, routing, firewall rules, and hybrid connectivity (VPN/Interconnect).
- Establish network segmentation, security boundaries, and scalable enterprise network patterns.
- Develop reference architectures and reusable templates for GCP deployment.
Compute, Security & IAM
- Architect Compute Engine deployment patterns aligned with CIS Linux hardening benchmarks.
- Define IAM policies based on least privilege, ensuring secure and compliant access models.
- Implement encryption strategies using Cloud KMS and manage secrets through Secret Manager.
High Availability, DR & Reliability
- Design High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies with well-defined RTO/RPO requirements.
- Build resilient architectures ensuring uptime, failover capability, and operational excellence.
- architecture documentation and present recommendations to stakeholders.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 15+ years of IT experience with strong specialization in Google Cloud Platform.
- Hands-on experience architecting GCP Landing Zones and enterprise VPC designs.
- Expertise with Compute Engine deployment and Linux hardening per CIS benchmarks.
- Strong knowledge of IAM policy design, KMS encryption, and Secret Manager.
- Proven experience with HA/DR architecture, including RTO/RPO definitions.
- Practical experience migrating legacy messaging platforms to Pub/Sub and Apigee.
- Familiarity with PCI compliance and TechSec/security best practices.
- Strong communication skills with experience producing architecture documentation.
- Ability to work in large, complex, and regulated enterprise environments.
