Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Guidewire Cloud Engineer to support the design, implementation, and optimization of a Guidewire Cloud Platform (GWCP) environment for a large insurance organization.
This is a hands-on engineering and delivery role, focused on cloud-native Guidewire deployments, environment automation, integrations, performance tuning, and operational readiness. The consultant will work closely with Guidewire architects, DevOps teams, and insurance application stakeholders to ensure a secure, scalable, and production-ready Guidewire platform.
The ideal candidate has deep Guidewire Cloud experience, strong AWS/Azure engineering skills, and prior delivery exposure within regulated insurance environments.
Key Responsibilities
Guidewire Cloud Engineering & Delivery
- Support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of Guidewire Cloud Platform (GWCP)
- Engineer and maintain cloud environments supporting PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and/or ClaimCenter
- Collaborate with Guidewire architects and system integrators to align platform design with business and regulatory requirements
- Support platform upgrades, patching, and release cycles
Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering
- Design and implement cloud-native infrastructure supporting Guidewire workloads
- Manage environments across non-prod and production (DEV, TEST, UAT, PROD)
- Support infrastructure-as-code and automation initiatives
- Ensure high availability, performance, scalability, and disaster recovery readiness
DevOps, CI/CD & Automation
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting Guidewire development and deployments
- Automate environment provisioning, configuration, and monitoring
- Partner with development teams to optimize deployment velocity while maintaining platform stability
- Support blue/green and rolling deployment strategies where applicable
Integrations & Security
- Support integrations between Guidewire and:
- External policy, billing, claims, and data platforms
- Identity and access management solutions
- Data warehouses, reporting tools, and downstream systems
- Ensure platform meets security, compliance, and audit standards common to insurance carriers
- Partner with security teams on access controls, encryption, logging, and monitoring
Documentation & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Produce technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
- Support knowledge transfer to internal engineering and operations teams
- Act as a senior technical contributor and trusted engineering advisor
Required Skills & Experience
Guidewire & Insurance Platforms
- Strong hands-on experience with Guidewire applications (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter)
- Experience working within the Guidewire Cloud Platform (GWCP)
- Solid understanding of Guidewire release cycles, deployment models, and integration patterns
Cloud & DevOps
- Strong cloud engineering experience (AWS and/or Azure)
- Experience with:
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, etc.)
- CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.)
- Containerization and cloud-native services
- Strong Linux and scripting experience (Bash, Python preferred)
Enterprise & Insurance Environment
- Prior experience delivering solutions for large insurance organizations
- Familiarity with insurance regulatory, compliance, and audit expectations
- Experience supporting mission-critical, customer-facing platforms
Professional Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills
- Ability to work independently in a consulting / contract capacity
- Clear communicator with strong documentation habits
Preferred Qualifications
- Guidewire Cloud certifications or formal Guidewire training
- Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect, etc.)
- Experience working with large system integrators or Guidewire partners
