Position: AWS Cloud Engineer
Location: Onsite in Golden Valley, MN
Duration; 3 month contract to hire
Salary: 80-90K plus bonus
Position Summary
The AWS Cloud Engineer supports the design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of cloud infrastructure used to run critical applications. In this highly regulated industry, the engineer helps ensure cloud environments meet strict standards for security, data protection, availability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing and maintaining AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS, Lambda) supporting insurance operations, policy administration, actuarial tools, customer portals, and data platforms.
- Support senior engineers in building Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation while following company governance standards.
Required Qualifications
- Foundational understanding of core AWS services or completion of relevant coursework/certification (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner).
- Basic experience with Linux or Windows servers, particularly in secure, managed environments.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Understanding of core networking concepts including VPCs, subnets, routing, firewalls, and DNS.
- Experience using Git or similar version control tools.
- Strong motivation to learn cloud engineering within a regulated industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands‐on AWS experience through labs, projects, or an internship (ideally involving regulated data or enterprise security practices).
- Exposure to Terraform, CloudFormation, or other IaC technologies.
