DevOps Engineer – Terraform Expert (Hybrid in Des Moines, IA)Schedule: Hybrid
Pay Rate: $53-58p/hr.
Job OverviewSeeking a senior DevOps Engineer with 10+ years of experience and deep expertise in Terraform, AWS, EKS, and Istio service mesh. This role is focused on designing, building, and maintaining scalable AWS cloud infrastructure, supporting modern application transformation, and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices. Candidates must have extensive hands?on experience with Terraform development (TypeScript), EKS, service mesh, CI/CD, and AWS operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform and TypeScript
- Manage and optimize advanced AWS services: EC2, EKS, ECR, Cognito, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudFront
- Architect, build, and maintain Istio service mesh within EKS clusters
- Provide technical leadership for cloud infrastructure, guiding teams and influencing architecture decisions
- Develop unit and integration tests to ensure IaC integrity
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub, GitHub Actions)
- Configure monitoring, dashboards, and alerts using FluentBit, CloudWatch, Dynatrace
- Troubleshoot performance issues and ensure high availability across cloud services
- Use Helm charts for packaging, dependency management, and deployment automation on EKS
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to improve performance and reliability
- Implement AWS security best practices, compliance controls, and IAM governance
- Work with configuration and orchestration tools to maintain cloud operational standards
