This role is responsible for designing and governing AWS cloud infrastructure, implementing Infrastructure-as-Code standards, and ensuring secure, compliant, and cost-optimized cloud environments. The position partners closely with Engineering and DevSecOps teams to enable secure, scalable, and reliable modernization initiatives.
This is a direct hire role, No visas or C2C on this one is allowed. Candidates must be local to Metro Detroit.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and deploy secure, scalable AWS multi-account environments with strong governance and compliance controls
- Build and manage Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using AWS CDK (TypeScript), CloudFormation, or Terraform within automated CI/CD pipelines
- Architect and implement secure network designs, including VPCs, Transit Gateways, and hybrid cloud connectivity
- Establish and maintain cloud security standards utilizing AWS Config, GuardDuty, Security Hub, and KMS
- Drive FinOps initiatives by implementing tagging strategies, cost optimization practices, budget oversight, and chargeback reporting
- Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to enable secure CI/CD pipelines and automated infrastructure provisioning
- Contribute cloud architecture expertise during enterprise architecture design and review sessions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure automation
- AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) and/or Security Specialty preferred
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, networking, security, and governance solutions
- Advanced expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code using AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform
- Strong understanding of AWS Organizations and multi-account landing zone design and implementation
- Proven experience implementing cloud security controls and compliance frameworks within regulated industries
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, GitOps practices, and DevSecOps integrations
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, TypeScript, or similar
- Experience working with container orchestration platforms including ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes
