Mid-Level DevOps Engineer- Hybrid (local Chicagoland candidates, only)

Synegen is seeking a Mid-Level DevOps Engineer to help run and scale the hosting and operations of our ~50 client environments and to partner with our product/engineering teams in delivering new DevOps solutions for partners. This role is hands-on in AWS—owning infrastructure reliability, environment standardization, and secure operational practices across multi-client deployments. You’ll build and maintain automation for provisioning and deployments (Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD), manage containerized services (e.g., Docker), implement monitoring/alerting and incident response, drive performance and cost optimization, and improve availability through backup/DR and security hardening. You’ll also help create repeatable “partner-ready” operational patterns (runbooks, reference architectures, onboarding checklists) so we can deliver faster and more consistently as we grow.
Synegen, Inc., an industry leader in software design and professional services, is seeking an exceptional candidate for the position of AWS DevOps Engineer,located in our Itasca, IL office. Coming from a strong technical background, the individual (local candidates only/no sponsorships) in this position will be responsible for the smooth operation of the IT infrastructure and the streamlining of operations, and, though not exhaustive, will have the following work requirements:
- Works with developers to deploy and manage code changes, and work with operations staff to ensure that systems are up and running smoothly
- Deeply understands both development and operations processes
- Implements various development, testing, automation tools, and IT infrastructure
- Defines and sets development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps operation
- Identifies and deploys cybersecurity measures by continuously performing vulnerability assessment and risk management
- Incidence management and root-cause analysis
- Selects and deploys appropriate CI/CD tools
- Strives for continuous improvement and builds continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline (CI/CD Pipeline)
- Works in a team atmosphere, mentoring and guiding team members on best practices
Skills
- Experience working on Linux-based infrastructure
- Excellent understanding of Ruby, Python, Perl, and Java
- Configuration and management of databases such as MySQL, POSTGres
- Excellent troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of various tools, open-source technologies, and cloud services (AWS)
