$50.00 – 56.00/hour (flexible D.O.E.)
A FinTech leader is seeking an innovative and passionate Cloud Data Engineer to join the Cloud Platform Team to maintain and enhance the cloud inventory and analytics platform. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AWS-managed databases, containerized applications, and data pipeline development. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Maintain and enhance the enterprise cloud inventory platform consisting of an Aurora Postgres database for large-scale data storage and querying, containerized data collectors, and a Python Lambda-based API layer for data access and integration
- Optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing strategies, and capacity planning for Aurora Postgres
- Troubleshoot and resolve application, database, and SQL query performance issues
- Develop and deploy new features and data collection capabilities using AWS-native technologies
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions to ensure high availability and reliability
- Lead the design and implementation of data pipelines and transformations
- Research and recommend improvements based on emerging technologies and best practices
- Participate in an agile delivery process with sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
Minimum qualifications:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (Lambda, ECS, S3, DynamoDB, IAM, CloudWatch) in an engineering capacity
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software/Data Engineering, or related field
- Expertise with Postgres/RDS including performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high availability configurations; Aurora Postgres is preferred
- Strong SQL skills in optimizing complex queries and troubleshooting database performance issues
- Hands-on experience with AWS ECS (Elastic Container Service) and containerized application deployment
- Proficiency in Python API development using frameworks such as Flask or FastAPI
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools such as GitLab, Github Actions, or Jenkins
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, preferably HashiCorp Terraform, is preferred
