To serve as administrator of fiber, wired and wireless networks, virtual and physical data centers, storage area network systems (SANS), cloud-based infrastructure, and the backup and recovery system; ensures the network and backup data centers are operating and functional in compliance with networking standards, all applicable security standards, and departmental policies and procedures.
Essential Functions Administer fiber, wired and wireless networks, virtual and physical data centers, SANS, cloud-based infrastructure, and backup/recovery systems. Design, develop, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot networks and cloud-based infrastructure solutions (AWS, Azure, Nutanix, Google Cloud). Monitor network functionality, identify performance problems, and implement configuration changes to improve efficiency. Install, configure, and maintain backup systems, virtualization software, and servers, including OS patching. Monitor hybrid cloud environments for interoperability and performance issues; recommend changes to improve efficiency. Develop and implement database security standards; maintain user security tables and workflows. Configure and maintain clustered data center systems for scalability and integration. Design and install network hardware (routers, hubs, switches, modems, gateways); ensure compliance with security standards. Coordinate networking activities with security analysts and other personnel. Perform storage capacity planning and optimize database performance. Serve as SQL/DB2 system database administrator; troubleshoot and resolve database issues. Prepare bid specifications for network software and hardware; review bids and recommend awards. Liaise with vendors for cabling requests and network equipment installations. Research and evaluate new technology; recommend improvements. Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams and addressing schemes.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field. Four years of detail oriented experience in network architecture design, installation, and maintenance. Four years of experience in database or data center server configuration, including virtual storage/server installation. Three years of experience installing and configuring routers. Equivalent combinations of education and experience considered.
