Cloud Platform Engineer (AWS)

We are partnering with a large, mission-driven organization to bring on a Cloud Platform Engineer who will play a key role in modernizing critical infrastructure that supports high-impact public-facing systems.

What You’ll Be Doing
You will work alongside senior engineers to support and evolve a modern cloud platform that connects AWS and on-prem systems into a seamless, scalable environment.
This role blends hands-on engineering, problem solving, and strategic input across cloud architecture, automation, and performance optimization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build and manage AWS environments supporting enterprise applications
- Design hybrid cloud solutions that integrate identity, authentication, and application services across platforms
- Lead efforts to migrate legacy systems into modern AWS-based architectures
- Create clear architecture diagrams and documentation for systems, dependencies, and data flow
- Troubleshoot complex cloud and hybrid issues across networking, IAM, and compute layers
- Improve system reliability by eliminating single points of failure and strengthening disaster recovery strategies
- Monitor and optimize performance across compute, storage, and network infrastructure
- Identify cost savings opportunities through rightsizing, storage optimization, and automation
- Partner with engineering teams to improve system performance, scalability, and efficiency
- Support infrastructure automation using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines
- Maintain detailed documentation for architecture, operations, and deployment processes
- Ensure security best practices including IAM controls, encryption, and network segmentation
- Support audit readiness through documentation, logs, and evidence collection
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience working with AWS in enterprise environments
- Strong experience with EC2, VPC, IAM, and S3
- Proven ability to support hybrid cloud environments connecting on-prem and cloud systems
- Experience migrating legacy systems to AWS and building modernization roadmaps
- Solid troubleshooting skills across networking, identity, and infrastructure layers
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices
- Strong documentation skills and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly
Nice to have:
- Experience with Ansible or other automation tools
- Strong understanding of AWS IAM and role-based access control
- Exposure to cost optimization and FinOps practices
