Job Description:
As a Senior AWS/EKS Engineer, you will support our AWS infrastructure and critical digital/mobile applications. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and support teams to automate deployments, maintain resilient production environments, and respond to incidents. Your work ensures platform reliability, performance, and continuous improvement for large-scale digital products.
What you'll do:
- Provide hands-on support for production environments, including software installation and upgrades, patch deployment, configuration and security management, and release deployments.
- Manage and upgrade Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) clusters and containerized workloads; perform cluster maintenance, scaling, and troubleshooting.
- Implement tooling and automation for build pipelines, configuration management, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), deployments, and application monitoring
- Maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to provision, configure, and scale cloud environments; evolve IaC to improve deployment speed, reliability, and consistency
- Act as a hands-on technical resource during production incidents and outages, diagnose and resolve issues across environments, and recommend performance and capacity improvements
- Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and stabilization of application infrastructure; integrate key performance indicators (KPIs) into the monitoring framework
Experience you'll need to have:
- 6+ years of experience in application operations, site reliability engineering, or cloud infrastructure engineering supporting production services in Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services and networking, including EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service), EC2, VPC, CloudWatch
- 4+ years of experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to provision and manage cloud infrastructure
- Prior experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, and CloudWatch for alerting, incident response, and performance tuning; experience managing TLS certificates and OpenSSL for secure communications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience
Experience that would be great to have:
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as AWS CodePipeline, Azure DevOps, or GitLab and familiarity with automated release pipelines
- Linux system administration skills, including troubleshooting and scripting (Bash), and experience configuring web servers and reverse proxies (Nginx, Apache)
- Strong understanding of routing and networking concepts and experience working with third-party vendors in production support scenarios
