About Our Client
Our Client is a fast-growing AI startup headquartered in the US. Their product helps creators automatically repurpose long-form videos into short, high-engagement clips, serving millions of users worldwide.
Role Background
As their business scales, they are building a cross-timezone operations support system. This role serves as a critical bridge between their Canada-based engineering team and Asia timezone coverage, ensuring immediate incident response and system support during China business hours.
Key Responsibilities
Environment Management & Automated Operations Own the full lifecycle of Staging and Production environments, including daily operations, resource scaling, automated deployments, and pre-release validation.
Incident Response & Troubleshooting Support engineer owners during production incidents. Responsibilities include initial triage, executing mitigation actions (degradation/rollback), and participating in root cause analysis and post-mortems.
System Monitoring & On-Call Coverage Participate actively in the on-call rotation, monitor system health metrics in real time, and ensure immediate response and escalation when anomalies are detected.
Operational Compliance & Documentation Follow production environment protocols strictly, maintain complete records of all changes, and continuously improve operational runbooks.
Facilitate requirements discussions and translate specifications and , translate specifications and provide technical support in both ENGLISH and MANDARIN with stakeholders in China who communicate solely in MANDARIN.
Requirements
Background Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field. 1-2 years of operations or backend development experience at an internet company.
Technical Skills (must have)
- Proficient in Linux command-line operations and Shell scripting
- Basic log analysis skills - ability to identify critical errors from large volumes of logs
- Familiarity with basic database operations (SQL queries, cache clearing)
- Proficient (written and spoken) in ENGLISH and CHINESE (Min B3 in GCE "O" Level CHINESE) or equivalent) to facilitate requirements discussions, translate specifications and provide technical support with MANDARIN-SPEAKING ONLY stakeholders in China.
- Detail-oriented: treats production environments with care and strictly follows operational procedures
- Calm under pressure: able to maintain composure and communicate clearly during live incidents
Working Hours Must be available during China business hours (Mon-Fri, 09:00-18:00 GMT+8).
Bonus Qualifications
- Cloud platforms: Hands-on experience with GCP or AWS; familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts
- Containerization: Basic Kubernetes (K8s) command experience; understanding of container orchestration
- Monitoring tools: Experience with Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana
- Middleware: Hands-on experience with Redis, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL
