Role Summary
The DevOps Engineer / Senior Software Engineer is responsible for operating and supporting Oracle finance-related applications, including Corporate GL, Country GLs, Financial Accounting Hub (FAH), Oracle OBI, Essbase, and Oracle DataStage. The role focuses on operational support, automation, scripting, and ensuring system availability and SLA compliance for finance users. This position works closely with development teams and senior management to support process changes, new application onboarding, and production operations.
Key Responsibilities
Application Operations & Support
Provide Day-to-day Operational Support For Oracle Applications, Including
Corporate General Ledger (GL)
Country GLs
Financial Accounting Hub (FAH)
Oracle OBI
Essbase
Oracle DataStage
Monitor overnight batch processes and troubleshoot operational issues.
Diagnose issues and provide timely resolutions to ensure system availability and SLA adherence.
Provide technical support for finance applications, including process issues, data issues, FTP issues, and server connection issues.
Deliver regular after-hours and weekend production support to application users.
Automation & Scheduling
Lead operation automation and script development.
Design and maintain Autosys jobs to automate processes and onboard new operational workflows into the job scheduler.
Develop and enhance application operation processes using Unix and SQL scripts.
Change, Release & Environment Support
Assist with system patches, upgrades, and enhancements.
Execute system test procedures and support UAT and production implementations.
Document system changes and ensure all change control requirements are met.
Security & Controls
Review User Security Administration to ensure access aligns with business functions and requirements.
Reporting & Financial Processing Support
Support critical PeopleSoft reporting cycles.
Ensure reporting infrastructure meets month-end and quarter-end requirements.
Monitor reporting processes, ensure data integrity, and meet aggressive reporting deadlines.
Maintain chart of accounts and reporting tree structures to support statutory, regulatory, management, and branch reporting for Canadian and U.S. operations.
Business & Stakeholder Collaboration
Work with business users and stakeholders to gather information through interviews, work sessions, storyboarding, and prototyping.
Evaluate business needs and issues, analyze existing processes, and assist in assessing solution alternatives.
Ensure business requirements are accurately translated into functional requirements and design documents.
Assist with system design and data migration reviews as required.
Analyze and document business requirements and processes.
Assist with development of test conditions, test cases, and testing activities.
Essential Skills
Experience operating and supporting Oracle financial applications, including Corporate GL, Country GLs, and FAH.
Hands-on experience with Oracle OBI, Essbase, and Oracle DataStage.
Strong background in operational automation and script development.
Proficiency with Unix and SQL scripting.
Experience supporting UAT and production environments.
