Position Title: Staff Cloud Engineer
Location: Downtown San Francisco, CA (hybrid work schedule)

Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Cloud Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our cloud infrastructure. This role requires a strong technical leader who can drive initiatives, influence architectural decisions, and guide teams without direct managerial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and highly available cloud-based solutions
- Act as a technical driver and thought leader within the engineering team, influencing best practices and architectural direction
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, DevOps, security, and product teams to deliver cloud-native solutions
- Architect and execute cloud migration strategies from on-premises or legacy systems to AWS
- Design, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker
- Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, cost, and reliability
- Establish and enforce cloud governance, security standards, and operational best practices
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance across teams (without direct reports)
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues in distributed environments
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or related roles
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to drive initiatives and lead technical efforts without formal management authority
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS core services (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda)
- Proven experience with Kubernetes and Docker in production environments
- Solid experience planning and executing cloud migrations
- Strong understanding of infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
- Deep knowledge of cloud security, networking, and high-availability architecture
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certification (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or equivalent)
- Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch)
- Strong scripting or programming skills (e.g., Python, Go, Bash)
