About Company - This is a technology-driven proprietary trading firm specializing in systematic alpha research and electronic market-making across multiple exchanges and asset classes. With significant market share across trading venues, we are looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to join our Bangalore office and drive reliability, scalability, and operational excellence for our mission-critical trading infrastructure.
As a Lead DevOps Engineer, you will work closely with Traders, Quants, and Developers to design, deploy, and support cutting-edge systems powering our production trading environment. This role requires strong technical depth, leadership capabilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-availability trading ecosystem.
Responsibilities -
● Lead and mentor a team of 4–5 DevOps / Production Support Engineers, driving operational excellence and team growth
● Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for mission-critical Production Trading systems and infrastructure
● Own and manage the widely deployed Order Management System (OMS) and Market Data delivery systems
● Monitor, troubleshoot, and report on the health and performance of trading systems and infrastructure
● Drive incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and post-incident reviews to improve platform stability
● Collaborate closely with Traders, Quants, Developers, and external clients to understand operational requirements and resolve issues efficiently
● Design and implement automation, self-healing mechanisms, and reliability improvements for support systems
● Serve as the primary technical escalation point for users of the trading platform
● Ensure smooth operational handovers across regions following the Follow-The-Sun support model
● Participate in deployment planning, release management, and production readiness activities
● Contribute to infrastructure scalability, observability, and continuous improvement initiatives
● Adapt to non-standard work hours based on project timelines and market requirements.
Qualifications -
● 5+ years of experience in DevOps / Production Support, preferably within Trading or Financial Services environments
● Prior experience leading or mentoring a team of at least 4–5 engineers
● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field from a reputed engineering college
● Strong hands-on experience with Linux/Unix systems administration
● Excellent scripting and automation skills in Python and Bash/Shell scripting
● Experience managing multiple incidents/tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
● Strong understanding of Incident Management, RCA processes, and operational best practices
● Experience working within a Follow-The-Sun support model and managing effective operational handovers
● Basic knowledge of SQL and writing database queries
● Excellent troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
● Strong communication skills with fluency in English
● Good exposure to financial products including Cash Equities, Bonds, Derivatives, Currencies, Commodities, and FX markets
● Strong understanding of the Trading Lifecycle, Futures & Options trading, and electronic trading systems
Preferred Skills -
● Experience supporting low-latency or high-frequency trading environments
● Exposure to monitoring and observability tools
● Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and infrastructure management
● Understanding of exchange connectivity and market data systems
● Ability to drive operational improvements and mentor junior engineers effectively
