We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our US engineering team in Bethesda.
Role Overview
As a DevOps Engineer at HiLabs, you will play a critical role in building, securing, automating, and maintaining cloud-native infrastructure and deployment systems supporting large-scale healthcare data platforms.
You will work closely with Engineering, Security, Data, and Product teams to ensure scalability, reliability, security, and operational excellence across our AWS cloud infrastructure.
This role requires strong hands-on expertise in AWS, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, containerization, automation, and cloud security best practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available AWS cloud infrastructure
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation
• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines across multiple development environments
• Automate deployments, monitoring, rollback strategies, and operational workflows
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes
• Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
• Implement cloud security best practices aligned with HIPAA, SOC2, and ISO 27001 standards
• Manage AWS services including EC2, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, SNS, and SQS
• Troubleshoot complex production issues across infrastructure, networking, and applications
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment reliability and operational efficiency
• Support incident response, security analysis, and infrastructure remediation activities
• Continuously improve platform automation, observability, and infrastructure scalability
Desired Profile
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline
• 4+ years of hands-on DevOps or Cloud Infrastructure experience
• Strong expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure and cloud-native architecture
• Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation for Infrastructure as Code
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub, and ELK stack
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems administration and shell scripting
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and secure SDLC practices
• Strong understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, firewalls, NAT, VPCs, IAM, Load Balancers, and security groups
• Experience with monitoring, observability, and cloud infrastructure troubleshooting
• Familiarity with HIPAA, SOC2, ISO 27001, or other security compliance frameworks
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Shell scripting
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
• Ability to work in fast-paced production environments and solve complex operational challenges
