Role Description
As an AWS Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for deploying, managing, and securing cloud-based systems. You will work on IT infrastructure, network management, system monitoring, security compliance, documentation, audit support, and cost optimization while ensuring seamless operations. This role requires hands-on experience with AWS services, Linux and Windows administration, cloud security, problem-solving skills, and ensuring regular testing of infrastructure and Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy, manage, and monitor AWS cloud infrastructure to support business operations (e.g., provisioning EC2 instances, configuring VPCs, and setting up S3 storage solutions).
- Install and manage Linux and Windows servers on AWS and other cloud environments (e.g., setting up Amazon EC2 instances with appropriate security groups).
- Troubleshoot systems and network devices to ensure smooth IT operations (e.g., diagnosing connectivity issues between AWS resources).
- Maintain an asset inventory of all hardware, software, and cloud resources (e.g., tracking AWS resource usage for cost optimization).
- Perform routine infrastructure monitoring, including system health checks, log analysis, and backup and restore operations (e.g., using AWS CloudWatch and AWS Backup for automated monitoring).
- Ensure security controls are implemented and maintained on servers and end-user systems (e.g., configuring AWS IAM policies, Security Groups, AWS Shield, and security alert tools like AWS GuardDuty and AWS Security Hub).
- Manage and maintain in-house web applications and cloud-based deployments (e.g., hosting and managing LMS applications and portals).
- Automate infrastructure deployment using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or scripting languages like Bash or PowerShell (e.g., writing a Terraform script to automate the provisioning of an EC2 instance)
- Collaborate with DevOps, IT support, and application development teams to optimize cloud performance (e.g., working with developers to integrate CI/CD pipelines if needed).
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and failover strategies for cloud applications (e.g., setting up multi-AZ deployments for RDS, configuring Route 53 failover policies, and implementing AWS Backup for disaster recovery).
- Support documentation and auditing of cloud infrastructure and configurations to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
- Perform regular testing of cloud infrastructure, ensuring adherence to Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies.
- Assist in audits and compliance reviews by preparing necessary documentation, reports, and logs.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in AWS cloud platform, IT infrastructure or a related role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, EFS, IAM, VPC, CloudFront, CloudWatch, etc.).
- Proficiency in Linux and Windows administration, configuring Nginx/Apache servers within a cloud environment.
- Familiarity with networking concepts, security best practices, and cloud monitoring tools.
- Basic knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Experience with documentation, audit support, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while collaborating with teams.
