About the Role
The Junior DevOps Engineer will support the administration, automation, and continuous improvement of our cloud-native infrastructure and application delivery platforms. This role serves as a key backup to the DevOps Engineer, providing operational support while developing expertise in Kubernetes, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and DevOps best practices. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to build hands-on experience in modern cloud and container technologies within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of Kubernetes clusters and containerized applications.
- Support software deployments, upgrades, patches, and routine platform maintenance activities.
- Help maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation processes, and infrastructure-as-code solutions.
- Develop and maintain scripts to automate operational and administrative tasks.
- Troubleshoot application, container, and infrastructure issues, participating in incident response and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, database, and network teams to support reliable application delivery.
- Assist with implementing security controls, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, operational procedures, and system diagrams.
- Participate in on-call rotations and scheduled after-hours maintenance as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, security standards, and data privacy requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Required Skills
- Foundational experience in systems administration, software development, or cloud infrastructure.
- Basic understanding of containers, microservices, and Kubernetes through coursework, certifications, personal projects, or professional experience.
- Experience scripting in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or a similar language.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and version control systems.
- Understanding of monitoring, logging, and infrastructure operations.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn new technologies.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or similar DevOps tools.
- Relevant certifications such as KCNA, CKA, or cloud platform certifications.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
- Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
