Role Description The Cloud Engineer and Endpoint Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, reliable cloud infrastructure and endpoint management solutions to support NYSUT’s operations. Day-to-day tasks include configuring and monitoring cloud services, managing virtual machines and storage, and implementing automation for deployment and scaling. The position also oversees endpoint security and compliance, including device provisioning, patch management, and policy enforcement across desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. The engineer collaborates closely with IT, security, and business stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and ensure resilient, highly available systems aligned with organizational needs.
Qualifications
- Cloud platform skills in areas such as infrastructure design, resource provisioning, virtual networking, storage management, and cloud security controls.
- Endpoint engineering experience, including device provisioning, configuration management, patching, and endpoint security tools.
- Systems administration capabilities across operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux), identity and access management, and directory services.
- Networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls, DNS, and load balancing for secure and reliable connectivity.
- Automation and scripting skills using tools or languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python to streamline deployments and routine tasks.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting experience with performance tuning, log analysis, and incident response in complex environments.
- Familiarity with security best practices, compliance requirements, data protection, and vulnerability remediation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Experience in a union, non-profit, or public-sector environment is beneficial but not required.
