Overview
We are seeking a DevOps Manager to drive modern engineering practices across our technology teams within a financial services environment. This role is hands-on and developer-leaning, focused on designing scalable infrastructure, building robust CI/CD pipelines, and enabling high-performing engineering teams through automation and platform engineering.
You will play a critical role in supporting the organisation's digital transformation by driving DevOps maturity, improving deployment velocity, and ensuring high availability and security of systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud-native infrastructure using containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines to support automated build, test, and deployment processes across multiple environments
- Collaborate closely with software engineering teams to embed DevOps practices into the development lifecycle (shift-left approach)
- Lead efforts in infrastructure design and architecture, ensuring systems are secure, resilient, and compliant with financial industry standards
- Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools such as Terraform / CloudFormation / similar
- Drive continuous improvement and automation across development, testing, and release processes
- Establish and monitor observability practices (logging, monitoring, alerting) to ensure system reliability and performance
- Partner with security teams to integrate DevSecOps practices, ensuring compliance and governance requirements are met
- Mentor engineers and contribute as a hands-on technical leader, setting best practices for DevOps and platform engineering
- Work with stakeholders across business and technology teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions
Required Skills & Experience
- 5-7 years of experience in DevOps, software engineering, or platform engineering roles
- Strong hands-on experience in:
- Docker and Kubernetes (production environments)
- CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
- Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Bash)
- Experience designing and managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
- Strong understanding of software development practices (SDLC, version control, code reviews)
Preferred / Good to Have
- Experience in financial services, banking, or regulated environments
- Exposure to DevSecOps and compliance frameworks (e.g., MAS, ISO, SOC2)
- Experience with container security and Kubernetes governance
- Knowledge of API gateways, service mesh (e.g., Istio)
- Prior experience in a tech lead or mentoring capacity
