About The Role
Our client, a leading Fortune 50 retailer with a highly complex and large-scale technology environment, is seeking an experienced Cloud Security Engineer to support risk reduction initiatives across their multi-cloud ecosystem. This role focuses on identifying, prioritizing, and remediating critical security issues across Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure, and AWS environments.
You will play a key role in strengthening cloud security posture by partnering with engineering and infrastructure teams to resolve vulnerabilities at scale. This position sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, security, networking, and data systems, requiring both hands-on technical expertise and strong collaboration skills.
Job Description
In this role, you will serve as a key driver of cloud security risk reduction by partnering cross-functionally with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams. You will take ownership of remediation efforts across a complex, multi-cloud environment, ensuring that vulnerabilities are addressed efficiently and at scale. This position requires a balance of hands-on technical execution and strategic thinking to improve long-term security posture.
- Lead remediation efforts for high-priority security vulnerabilities across GCP, Azure, and AWS environments
- Develop and implement mitigation strategies, including updates to Terraform code and automation scripts to address systemic issues across multiple projects
- Coordinate with engineering and infrastructure teams to ensure secure handling and rotation of compromised or mismanaged cloud secrets
- Identify and address root causes of recurring security issues to prevent future risks in deployment pipelines
- Validate successful remediation through testing, monitoring, and collaboration with partner teams
- Work across cloud infrastructure, backend systems, networking, and data platforms to design scalable, secure solutions
- Contribute to continuous improvement of cloud security practices, standards, and automation frameworks
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with a strong focus on GCP (required)
- Proven experience remediating cloud security issues in large-scale, multi-project environments
- 5+ years of experience developing automation scripts or pipelines, particularly within GCP
- 3+ years of hands-on experience writing and maintaining Terraform in production environments (e.g., supporting 100+ cloud projects)
- Strong understanding of infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and automation best practices
- Proficiency in cloud and on-premises infrastructure, including networking (SDN), compute, storage, databases, and identity and access management (IAM)
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop scalable solutions with minimal supervision
- Ability to analyze existing architectures and repositories to assess risk and recommend remediation strategies
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Agile teams and align with business and technical priorities
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging cloud and security technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Azure and/or AWS in addition to GCP
- Familiarity with GitHub, Atlantis, or similar tools for infrastructure automation and version control
- Background in cloud security, including vulnerability management and risk mitigation strategies
- Blend of infrastructure and security experience in enterprise-level environments
