Who Are We?
ADB SAFEGATE is the global market leader in Airfield Solutions, with a presence in 2,700 airports and 40 offices worldwide. We are building ADB SAFEGATE India Labs in Hyderabad – our latest software development hub. This is an opportunity to join a truly global company, working on innovative software solutions that support airport operations across Airfield, Apron, Terminal, Tower, and Weather solutions.
Role Summary
ADB Safegate Labs India is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer with strong leadership skills to take ownership of DevOps responsibilities and drive a service-oriented architecture mindset across the team. You will design, build, and operate a container-based delivery platform, maintain reliable development and runtime environments across both virtualized (e.g., Azure VMware Solution) and physical server landscapes, and champion engineering quality, operational excellence, and security compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead by example in engineering practices, mentor team members, and drive pragmatic standards.
- Collaborate with developers, platform/infrastructure, and security stakeholders to deliver efficient and reliable solutions.
DevOps & CI/CD (Container-Centric)
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for container images, including versioning, promotion strategies, and traceability.
- Automate build, test, security checks, and deployment workflows; ensure repeatable environment provisioning.
- Integrate artifact/image registries, policy enforcement, and automated reporting.
Containerization & Orchestration
- Design and maintain container build patterns (base images, hardening, minimal images, SBOM).
- Operate and support container orchestration platforms, including Kubernetes, and manage container runtime aspects.
Service-Oriented Architecture Enablement
- Support teams in designing, deploying, and operating service-oriented/microservice-style systems.
- Enable platform capabilities for service reliability (health checks, rolling updates, scaling, dependency management).
Infrastructure & OS Platform Engineering
- Provide and maintain tailored operating system baselines for RHEL and Windows, virtual environments (Azure, VMware Solution), and physical servers.
- Automate provisioning, configuration, patching, and lifecycle management using Ansible and Terraform.
Quality Engineering & Reliability
- Drive code quality practices: Clean Code, code reviews, static analysis, linting, formatting, and dependency hygiene.
- Ensure automated testing strategy coverage (integration/system), pipeline gating, and reproducible environments.
- Own troubleshooting across the stack (pipelines, containers, OS, network, runtime issues) and improve operability via metrics/logging/tracing.
Security & Compliance Proof
- Implement and document security controls, including CIS hardening for OS and container images.
- Provide CVE reporting, vulnerability remediation workflows, and audit-ready evidence (baselines, reports, exceptions).
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Senior software engineer with technical leadership capabilities (ownership, mentoring, decision-making).
- Strong hands-on experience with containerization (Docker/OCI), image build optimization, and secure image practices.
- Solid experience with CI/CD design and operations (pipelines, gating, promotions, automation).
- Practical expertise with Kubernetes and container operations (deployments, config, secrets, networking basics).
- Strong Python skills for automation/tools and Ansible for configuration management and OS provisioning.
- Experience administering and hardening RHEL and Windows (golden images/baselines, patching, configuration).
- Ability to work effectively in a small, efficiency-focused team with end-to-end responsibility.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with Azure and/or Azure VMware Solution operations and integration patterns.
- Experience generating/maintaining SBOMs, signing images, and supply chain security (provenance/attestation).
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform) and secrets management solutions.
- Experience with Rancher tools (RKE2, K3s) for Kubernetes management and orchestration.
- Experience with Grafana and Prometheus for observability, monitoring, and alerting.
What Success Looks Like (Outcomes)
- A reliable, fast, and secure container-based CI/CD process with clear promotion paths and traceability.
- Standardized, hardened, and maintainable RHEL/Windows baselines for virtual and physical environments.
- Measurable improvements in code quality, test automation, and operational stability.
- Repeatable security evidence: CIS compliance status, CVE posture, remediation tracking, and audit-ready documentation.
