Job Summary
Accelyst is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer Specialist to design, develop, and support enterprise cloud-native applications within AWS environments. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience building secure microservices, developing RESTful APIs, implementing cloud integrations, and delivering Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.
This role requires close collaboration with engineering, security, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to deliver scalable, highly available, and secure cloud solutions while supporting the complete software development lifecycle, including production deployments and operational support.
Job Roles and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain cloud-native applications using AWS cloud services.
- Build scalable microservices architectures supporting enterprise business applications.
- Design and develop secure RESTful APIs using Java and/or Python.
- Develop cloud integration solutions across enterprise platforms and distributed systems.
- Implement Identity and Access Management (IAM) services, authentication, authorization, and access control mechanisms.
- Develop secure authentication solutions utilizing OAuth, SAML, Single Sign-On (SSO), Federation, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate application deployments using CI/CD pipelines.
- Containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate workloads with Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and Amazon ECS.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
- Participate in application architecture, technical design, code reviews, testing, deployment, and production support activities.
- Troubleshoot application, cloud infrastructure, and integration issues across development, testing, and production environments.
- Partner with security teams to ensure enterprise cloud security standards and best practices are implemented.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, and engineering teams to optimize cloud performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Support production releases, system monitoring, and participate in on-call support rotations as required.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Stay current with emerging AWS services, cloud technologies, and industry best practices.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of software development experience (10+ years preferred).
- 5+ years of hands-on AWS cloud engineering experience.
- Strong experience designing and implementing microservices-based architectures.
- Extensive experience developing cloud-native enterprise applications.
- Hands-on experience building secure REST APIs using Java and/or Python.
- Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services and cloud integration patterns.
- Experience implementing Identity and Access Management (IAM), authentication, and authorization solutions.
- Experience working with distributed systems and enterprise application architectures.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and cloud-native development practices.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering and infrastructure teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing OAuth, SAML, Single Sign-On (SSO), Federation, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Amazon EKS, and Amazon ECS.
- Hands-on experience using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
- Strong experience with Spring Boot and distributed systems architecture.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, and related DevOps tools.
- Knowledge of enterprise cloud security, access management, and secure application development best practices.
- Experience supporting enterprise production environments and participating in on-call rotations.

- Full-time onsite position located in McLean, Virginia.
