About The Role
The Senior DevOps Engineer, Team Lead is responsible for leading DevOps practices, deployment automation, cloud operations, reliability, release support, and operational readiness across Digital & Transformation. This role provides hands-on technical leadership for DevOps responsibilities that support the broader platform across Solution Engineering, Application Engineering, and Data & AI Engineering.
This role sits within Digital & Transformation, helping to advance how DNV performs Due Diligence, Verification & Assurance, and Renewables Certification work across Energy Systems.
Working in close partnership with Product leadership, Solution Engineering, Application Engineering, Data & AI Engineering, Platform Security & Compliance, Solution Architecture, and globally distributed engineering teams, this role ensures platform delivery is automated, reliable, secure, observable, and ready for production use.
The Senior DevOps Engineer, Team Lead supports a DevOps team across traditional application delivery, data and AI services, APIs, and low-code or hybrid platform deployment scenarios. The role has a particular focus on supporting the low-code hybrid platform environment used by Solution Engineering while also enabling reliable delivery for web applications, data services, AI-enabled capabilities, and shared platform components.
This role requires strong DevOps fundamentals, practical cloud operations experience, and the ability to lead organized delivery across multiple platform teams. The ideal candidate is comfortable with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, environment management, monitoring, release governance, security controls, and structured DevOps or agile delivery practices in Azure, AWS, and hybrid platform environments.
This role is based at our DNV office in Chennai, India. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.
Key Responsibilities
DevOps Leadership & Delivery
- Lead day-to-day DevOps delivery across low-code and hybrid platform environments, web applications, APIs, data services, AI-enabled capabilities, and shared platform components.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership while contributing directly to pipeline development, deployment automation, environment support, monitoring, troubleshooting, and release readiness.
- Establish clear ownership, accountability, delivery discipline, and operational standards across DevOps workstreams.
- Guide release management, environment strategy, deployment automation, operational readiness, and production support practices.
- Coach DevOps engineers on reliability practices, automation quality, secure delivery, stakeholder communication, and operational discipline.
- Maintain clear visibility into DevOps priorities, dependencies, risks, blockers, release timelines, and operational readiness needs.
CI/CD, Automation & Cloud Operations
- Build, maintain, and improve deployment pipelines for web applications, APIs, data services, AI services, platform configurations, and low-code or hybrid platform components.
- Improve deployment speed, consistency, rollback readiness, release traceability, and operational confidence.
- Create reusable pipeline patterns, deployment templates, infrastructure modules, automation scripts, and operational standards.
- Support environment provisioning, access configuration, secrets management, configuration management, and controlled deployment practices.
- Reduce manual deployment effort by improving automation, repeatability, and standardization across platform teams.
Low-Code, Hybrid Platform & Application Support
- Support deployment and operational practices for low-code, no-code, and hybrid platform environments.
- Partner with Solution Engineering on complex configuration deployments, data load scenarios, workflow releases, customer implementation environments, and environment readiness.
- Standardize reusable deployment and operational patterns as platform capabilities mature.
Reliability, Monitoring & Incident Management
- Ensure platform systems are observable, resilient, performant, secure, and supportable.
- Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, logging, dashboards, health checks, and incident response practices that support production operations.
- Support capacity planning, availability, backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and operational readiness activities.
- Partner with engineering teams to improve reliability, performance, scalability, error handling, and production diagnostics.
- Ensure production issues are documented, tracked, resolved, and used to improve future delivery practices.
- Support smoke testing, regression validation, post-deployment checks, rollback procedures, and release confidence.
Security, Compliance & Governance
- Partner with Platform Security & Compliance to support internal security baselines, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and enterprise security expectations.
- Embed secure practices into CI/CD, access controls, separation of duties, change management, deployment approvals, environment management, and audit evidence.
- Support vulnerability management, dependency updates, secrets management, identity and access management, logging, monitoring, and incident readiness.
- Maintain documentation and evidence for deployment processes, change records, access controls, environment controls, operational procedures, and release readiness.
- Promote secure and compliant operations across custom software, low-code and hybrid platform deployments, APIs, data services, and AI-enabled capabilities.
- Define practical expectations for how the team uses AI-enabled DevOps workflows while maintaining strong review, security, reliability, and auditability standards.
Team Delivery, Agile Execution & Collaboration
- Manage team delivery through structured backlogs, sprint planning, refinement, task tracking, review, retrospective practices, or equivalent delivery methods.
- Break down complex DevOps work into actionable tasks, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and delivery milestones.
- Coordinate across Product, Solution Engineering, Application Engineering, Data & AI Engineering, Platform Security & Compliance, Solution Architecture, and global teams to keep DevOps work aligned with broader platform priorities.
- Communicate operational risks, release readiness, blockers, tradeoffs, and delivery status clearly.
- Support knowledge transfer to engineering and implementation teams where DevOps patterns, deployment guidance, or operational practices become reusable standards.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, operational excellence, automation, continuous improvement, and delivery ownership.

About You
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, platform operations, cloud engineering, release engineering, site reliability engineering, or related technical roles.
- Experience leading technical delivery, mentoring engineers, coordinating DevOps workstreams, or guiding platform operations initiatives in a production environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, infrastructure automation, environment management, monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident management.
- Experience supporting production web applications, APIs, services, data services, AI-enabled capabilities, or cloud-based systems.
- Experience supporting low-code, no-code, or hybrid platform deployments, or strong interest and ability to operate in a hybrid platform environment.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or comparable cloud environments, with preference for multi-cloud exposure.
- Experience supporting secure development and deployment practices aligned with SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, or comparable enterprise security expectations.
- Strong organization, excellent English communication, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and delivery coordination skills.
