ROLE OVERVIEW
As a DevOps Engineer at Dunedain, you'll build and own the systems that get our platform deployed, running, and reliable across a wide range of environments, including the edge. You'll design the CI/CD, containerization, and orchestration that let a small team ship fast without breaking the things operational users depend on. A lot of our work lands in hardened and federal environments where compliance and security are constraints on every decision, so you'll build with accreditation and control requirements in mind from the start. Full-time, remote or hybrid.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, build, and own the CI/CD pipelines, container images, and orchestration that move our software from commit to deployed.
- Deploy and operate the platform across a variety of environments, including cloud, on-prem, disconnected, and edge.
- Build for hardened and federal environments where compliance, accreditation, and security controls shape how systems get deployed and run.
- Improve the reliability, maintainability, and performance of our compute infrastructure as usage grows.
- Automate the boring and the risky: provisioning, configuration, secrets, and repeatable deployments.
- Partner with engineering and product to understand emerging needs and deliver infrastructure that keeps up.
- Own incident response for the systems you build, and drive the fixes that keep them from recurring.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering, with a focus on operational reliability.
- Strong containerization and orchestration experience (Docker and Kubernetes).
- Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar).
- Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and comfort with on-prem or data-center operations.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, networking, and system reliability principles.
- Proficiency in a systems or scripting language (Go, Python, or Rust).
- Experience deploying and operating software across a range of target environments, not just one clean cloud.
- US Citizenship required.
- Willingness and eligibility to obtain a US security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- DevOps experience in hardened or federal environments where compliance is a real constraint (IL5/IL6, FedRAMP, RMF, CMMC, or air-gapped/classified networks).
- Experience deploying to edge or resource-constrained, low-connectivity environments.
- Familiarity with security and accreditation tooling: scanning, hardened base images, STIGs, or continuous monitoring.
- Military experience or prior work supporting DoD/DoW customers.
- Startup experience, or a track record in fast-moving, agile teams.
- Active security clearance.
