About the Role
We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who can own infrastructure end-to-end — from designing greenfield SaaS environments to supporting on-premise deployments. This role requires deep AWS expertise, working knowledge of Azure, and the maturity to act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for infrastructure-related client engagements. You'll be expected to bring ideas to the table, not wait for a backlog — identifying gaps, proposing solutions, and driving them through to implementation.
Key Responsibilities
• Greenfield SaaS infrastructure: Design, build, and maintain infrastructure from the ground up, following cloud-native and scalable architecture principles.
• On-premise deployments: Plan, deploy, and support on-premise infrastructure for clients with hybrid or non-cloud requirements.
• Cloud platforms: Architect, provision, and manage infrastructure primarily on AWS, with working proficiency across Azure services for cross-cloud or client-specific needs.
• Cost optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize infrastructure spend — implement cost governance practices (right-sizing, reserved instances/savings plans, auto-scaling policies, resource cleanup, tagging strategies).
• Client SPOC: Act as the Single Point of Contact for infrastructure matters in client engagements — leading technical discussions, managing expectations, and translating client requirements into technical solutions.
• Best practices: Proactively identify infrastructure risks, inefficiencies, and technical debt; recommend and implement best practices across security, reliability, scalability, and automation.
• Automation: Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automated deployment workflows.
• Observability: Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure high availability and rapid incident response.
• Security & compliance: Own the security and compliance posture of infrastructure (IAM policies, network security, patching, backup/DR strategies).
• Collaboration: Work with development, QA, and product teams to ensure infrastructure supports application and business needs.
• Documentation: Maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures for internal and client reference.
Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of hands-on DevOps/Infrastructure engineering experience.
• Strong, demonstrable expertise in AWS (EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, IAM, Lambda, ECS/EKS,
CloudFormation/CDK, CloudWatch, etc.).
• Working exposure to Microsoft Azure (Azure VMs, VNets, Azure AD, Azure Monitor, ARM/Bicep templates, or similar).
• Proven experience setting up greenfield SaaS infrastructure from scratch.
• Experience with on-premise infrastructure deployment and management (physical/virtual servers, networking, hybrid connectivity).
• Strong grasp of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/ECS).
• Solid understanding of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar).
• Demonstrated ability to drive cost optimization initiatives with measurable outcomes.
• Strong scripting ability (Bash, Python, or similar) for automation.
• Working knowledge of networking, security fundamentals, and cloud compliance frameworks.
Soft Skills & Working Style
• Self-starter — comfortable identifying problems and driving solutions without waiting for direction.
• Strong client-facing communication skills; confident acting as a technical SPOC in external engagements.
• Ability to translate technical decisions into business impact (cost, risk, timelines) for non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable owning ambiguity in greenfield environments where processes may not yet exist.
• Strong ownership mentality and accountability for infrastructure uptime and cost.
• Good at balancing rapid delivery with long-term maintainability and best practices.
Nice to Have
• Relevant certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect / DevOps Engineer, Azure Administrator/Architect).
• Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud architecture design.
• Exposure to FinOps practices or tools (AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, CloudHealth, etc.).
• Prior experience in a client-facing or consulting-style engineering role.
