The DevOps Engineer is reporting to the Director Software Development & Digital Health. He/She is responsible for building and operating the cloud and hybrid infrastructure that supports BIOTRONIK's medical device software, ensuring secure, reliable, and auditable delivery of software to production.
Your Responsibilities
- Design, write, and maintain Terraform to provision and manage Azure infrastructure as code, following infrastructure-as-code best practices.
- Manage Kubernetes clusters (AKS), Helm chart deployments, ArgoCD GitOps workflows, and associated networking components.
- Build and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines for automated application delivery, container image promotion, and infrastructure deployment, including automated security and quality gates.
- Deploy, operate, and support applications across multi-stage environments, from development through production, using structured release and promotion strategies.
- Manage secrets, identity, and access using cloud-native security practices, including Key Vault and role-based access control.
- Maintain observability platforms and develop monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to support proactive incident detection.
- Bridge hybrid on-premises and Azure environments through secure networking and tunnel-based connectivity solutions.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, support incident response, and drive post-incident improvements to infrastructure and pipelines.
- Maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures and support cloud cost and capacity management.
- Work closely with regulatory affairs and compliance teams to ensure infrastructure and deployment processes adhere to industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with software engineers and test engineers to embed infrastructure and pipeline requirements early in the development lifecycle.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- At least 5-7 years of relevant work experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience in the medical device industry, or another regulated/audit-heavy industry (e.g. healthcare, FinTech, aerospace), would be an added advantage.
- Proven experience writing and maintaining Terraform for Azure infrastructure.
- Experience operating Kubernetes (AKS preferred) in production, including Helm and GitOps tooling such as ArgoCD.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with cloud-native secrets, identity, and access management (e.g. Key Vault, Managed Identities, RBAC).
- Experience with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, or ELK/EFK.
- Experience with hybrid on-premises to cloud networking (e.g. VPN, ExpressRoute).
- Strong understanding of security principles and best practices for cloud environments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
