Overview of the Role
As a Technical Lead specializing in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), you will play a pivotal role in managing technology projects and providing expert technical guidance to ensure service reliability, scalability, and operational excellence. This position is critical in shaping technical direction, fostering best practices, and driving continuous improvement within our engineering teams, directly impacting HCLTech’s ability to deliver robust and innovative solutions to clients.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and guide a team of engineers in the implementation and adoption of SRE principles and best practices.
- Provide in-depth technical guidance and solutions, advocating for and enforcing high coding standards and modern engineering practices.
- Oversee the design, development, deployment, and reliability of critical systems and services, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
- Facilitate technical discussions and reviews, acting as a consultant for feasibility studies, architectural decisions, and technical risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with defined processes and quality standards within assigned modules or projects.
- Break down complex problems into manageable components and provide accurate estimations for project deliverables.
- Prepare and deliver regular status reports to stakeholders, proactively identifying and mitigating project risks and managing escalations to closure.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, automation, and innovation within the team.
Skill Requirements
Must-Have:
- Hands-on experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), including automation, monitoring, incident response, and system reliability practices.
- Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, or similar).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and modern DevOps methodologies.
- Proven ability to mentor and lead engineering teams, fostering technical growth and best practices.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Other Requirements (Optional)
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Google SRE, AWS Certified, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are advantageous.
- Experience with large-scale, distributed systems and microservices architecture.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Exposure to Agile methodologies and project management tools.
