About Kimedics
Kimedics is transforming the way healthcare organizations manage their workforce. As part of the Jackson Healthcare family, we provide a modern, intuitive platform that helps hospitals, medical groups, and clinicians streamline scheduling, credentialing, time tracking, and workforce operations.
Our mission is to empower healthcare teams with technology that removes friction, increases transparency, and improves patient care. We’re growing quickly and building an engineering organization where innovation, reliability, and trust are foundational.
The Role
The Platform team at Kimedics builds and operates the infrastructure foundation that every product team depends on. We own the cloud platform running on Azure, the container orchestration layer, the identity and security posture, and the observability systems that keep our services healthy and our engineers informed.
This is a hands-on technical role. You'll design and build real systems, contribute to meaningful infrastructure decisions, and work across the stack from networking, IAM, and Azure services, to CI/CD pipelines and code repository configuration. As you grow into the role, you'll help shape how the team works: contributing to technical standards, giving thoughtful peer reviews, and mentoring engineers who are earlier in their careers. You'll be supported by senior engineers as you build toward deeper ownership.
If you're someone who finds satisfaction in making platform infrastructure simple and reliable for the engineers who depend on it, and who takes the security and compliance obligations of healthcare software seriously, this role is worth a close look, even if you don't check every box below.
What You Will Do
Infrastructure and Cloud Platform
You'll design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure on Azure using infrastructure-as-code practices. Terraform, Kubernetes, and Azure service operators are part of our daily vocabulary. We treat infrastructure as software: version controlled, reviewed, tested, and documented. You'll contribute to that standard, with support to help raise it as you grow into the role.
Container Workloads and Kubernetes
We use Azure Container Services and will be moving toward Kubernetes. You'll help own workload configuration, deployment patterns, resource management, and cluster health, building your understanding of containerized systems at scale with guidance from senior teammates.
Networking and Security
Platform engineers here work at the network and identity layer, not above it. You'll help design and maintain virtual network topology, firewall rules, private endpoints, and service connectivity. Identity and access management is a first-class concern: we're actively hardening our IAM posture against SOC2 Type 2 and HITRUST requirements, and you'll play a real role in that work as you build your expertise.
Observability, Logging, and Alerting
You understand that a system you can't observe is a system you can't trust. You'll help build and maintain the logging pipelines, metrics infrastructure, dashboards, and alerting rules that keep the team ahead of issues rather than chasing them.
Systems Design and Architecture
Platform work requires thinking in systems. You'll weigh in on tradeoffs across reliability, security, cost, and operational complexity, and contribute to architecture decisions and ADRs, growing your systems-thinking skills alongside more senior engineers on the team.
What You Bring
- 4 to 6 or more years of professional engineering experience, with a solid foundation in cloud or infrastructure engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Azure: compute, networking, storage, identity, and managed services. You're comfortable working beyond the surface level and eager to keep going deeper.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling; Terraform and GitOps with Azure-native service operators experience is a plus, but not required on day one.
- Some Kubernetes experience, or strong container-orchestration fundamentals and a genuine interest in building deeper Kubernetes skills: workload configuration, namespace and RBAC design, and resource management.
- Working knowledge of cloud networking fundamentals: Zero Trust networking, VNets, subnets, NSGs, private endpoints, DNS, and service connectivity patterns.
- Understanding of identity and access management in Azure, including Entra ID, managed identities, and role assignments. Exposure to compliance-driven IAM work (SOC2, HITRUST, HIPAA) is a plus, not a requirement.
- Some experience with, or strong interest in, observability systems: structured logging, metrics pipelines, distributed tracing, and alert design that reduces noise rather than adding to it.
- Solid system design instincts and a growing ability to hold a complex system in your head, identify where it's fragile, and propose practical improvements.
- A genuine orientation toward collaboration. You give useful code reviews, communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to people outside your immediate domain, and take ownership of team outcomes rather than just your own ticket queue.
- Experience in healthcare, fintech, or other regulated industries is a plus, not required.
