Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Platform Engineer to join our Platform Operations team and support the design, automation, and operation of our cloud-based data platform. This role focuses on Snowflake administration, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD automation, platform reliability, and operational excellence across AWS and Azure environments. You will work closely with Data Engineering, Infrastructure, and Analytics teams to improve scalability, observability, security, and deployment automation while reducing operational overhead through modern engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Engineering
- Operate, support, and continuously improve a cloud-based data platform with a primary focus on Snowflake.
- Build and maintain automation that enhances platform reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
- Monitor platform performance, availability, utilization, and costs, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Snowflake Administration
- Administer Snowflake environments, including RBAC, security, warehouses, databases, schemas, and resource management.
- Optimize query performance, warehouse utilization, and cost efficiency.
- Support secure data sharing, governance, compliance, and platform best practices.
Cloud & DevOps Automation
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database and platform deployments using GitLab, Liquibase, Redgate, or similar tools.
- Automate operational processes and deployments using Python, SQL, Bash, or related scripting languages.
- Integrate Snowflake with AWS and Azure services, including storage, identity, messaging, and serverless platforms.
Data Platform Operations
- Support ETL/ELT workloads and streaming technologies such as Confluent Kafka.
- Troubleshoot production issues involving data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and platform services.
- Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions to improve operational readiness.
Incident Management & Support
- Participate in an on-call rotation supporting mission-critical production systems.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Partner with engineering and infrastructure teams during incident response and post-incident reviews.
Security & Compliance
- Maintain IAM controls, auditing, logging, and security standards across the platform.
- Promote automation-first operational practices and platform engineering best practices.
Collaboration
- Partner with Data Engineering, Analytics, Infrastructure, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable platform services.
- Contribute to platform architecture decisions, operational improvements, and technology roadmaps.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Data Platform Operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake administration and support.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for database and platform deployments.
- Strong knowledge of AWS and/or Microsoft Azure cloud services.
- Experience supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and streaming platforms such as Confluent Kafka.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
- Experience with Git-based source control and development workflows.
- Experience supporting production environments in an operational or on-call capacity.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Apache Airflow or other workflow orchestration platforms.
- Experience with serverless and event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and cloud cost-optimization tools.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale data platforms.
