About The Role
The JAAW Group LLC, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is seeking a
Cloud Engineer to support secure, mission-critical cloud infrastructure for the ICBM Sentinel program at Hill Air Force Base. This role is responsible for designing, deploying, maintaining, securing, and improving cloud and platform infrastructure within a classified Department of Defense environment. The Cloud Engineer will work across cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevSecOps, and automation while supporting containerized and compute-intensive workloads. This individual will collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, software development, data, and AI/ML teams to deliver reliable and secure cloud capabilities in a fast-paced Agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, administer, monitor, and maintain cloud infrastructure supporting mission-critical government workloads.
- Support AWS and/or Microsoft Azure environments, including compute, storage, networking, identity, access, and security controls.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar technologies.
- Support Kubernetes and containerized workloads, including Docker-based environments.
- Support CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and DevSecOps processes.
- Automate infrastructure and operational tasks using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages.
- Monitor infrastructure health, troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and support patching and configuration management.
- Implement and maintain security controls, STIG compliance checks, and vulnerability remediation activities.
- Support cloud-based compute environments, including GPU-enabled or high-performance workloads as required.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, software development, data engineering, and AI/ML teams on cloud and platform requirements.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, infrastructure configurations, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Participate in Agile delivery activities, including sprints, standups, retrospectives, and continuous process improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret security clearance required prior to onboarding; Top Secret preferred.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field; relevant certifications and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 2+ years of cloud engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, infrastructure, or related technical experience.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or another major cloud platform.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, or DevSecOps practices.
- Proficiency with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages.
- Working knowledge of cloud networking, identity and access management, security controls, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an Agile, fast-paced, mission-focused environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS GovCloud and/or Microsoft Azure government environments.
- Experience with GitOps workflows and tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Argo CD, Crossplane, or Backstage.
- Experience supporting high-performance computing environments, including Slurm, PBS, AWS ParallelCluster, or AWS Batch.
- Experience with NVIDIA GPUs, CUDA/cuDNN, or GPU-accelerated workloads.
- Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure, model-serving environments, or data platforms.
- Familiarity with Apache Kafka, Airflow, Spark, EMR, Redshift, or Glue.
- Experience with Zero Trust, RMF, STIG compliance, vulnerability remediation, or other DoD cybersecurity requirements.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense or other federal government environments.
- AWS, Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, or other relevant cloud certifications.
- CompTIA Security+ or other DoD 8140-compliant certification.
