Our Dallas client company is searching for an Associate AWS Cloud Engineer with 2+ years of hands-on experience supporting AWS infrastructure in production environments to deploy, administer, and support AWS infrastructure and services across multiple environments.
You may be a great fit for this opportunity if you are:
• A Systems administrator who moved into AWS and you came up managing Windows or Linux and you've been running AWS workloads for 2+ years (as that foundation makes you effective at diagnosing issues across the full stack).
• An AWS engineer from a smaller team where you may have worn several hats rather than specializing, and you've owned infrastructure end-to-end.
• A Software or Application Engineer who shifted into infrastructure and you've spent the last 2+ years on IaC, deployment, and operations rather than feature work.
• An AWS Engineer with Windows Server and Active Directory depth as part of my client company’s environment runs on Windows.
The successful candidate will be able to effectively troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, and application issues, and perform root cause analysis; support and improve CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments; participate in infrastructure projects, upgrades, and production support, including executing DR procedures and runbooks; monitor environments using CloudWatch and related tooling; respond to performance, availability, and security issues; write and maintain Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation and/or Terraform or equivalent; build and improve automation scripts that reduce manual operational work; help implement and maintain AWS security controls and identity management (IAM); collaborate with software development, security, and infrastructure teams; and create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
To be considered, candidates MUST have one of the following certifications: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.
In addition, candidates MUST have written and modified IaC templates and understand what they deploy (CloudFormation, Terraform, or equivalent); have working knowledge of AWS core services (compute, storage, databases, networking, and security); have created scripts in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate operational tasks (not just modify/run existing scripts); have experience using CloudWatch, PagerDuty, or equivalent for monitoring and alerting; have contributed to CI/CD pipelines;
have experience with Git-based workflows; and have proven troubleshooting instincts (you can walk us through a problem you diagnosed and how you approached it).
Although not required, any of the following would be a plus: Exposure to multi-account AWS environments using AWS Organizations and/or Control Tower; foundational awareness of AWS Generative AI services such as Amazon Bedrock and their cost implications; knowledge of disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity planning within AWS; Microsoft certification/s and/or experience supporting Windows workloads in cloud; as well as experience with: cloud governance, cost optimization, and security controls; container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (EKS); or configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
Candidates must further be able to participate in monthly IT maintenance and development team code promotions (off-hours and weekends), as well as weekly on-call rotations every 6 weeks.
Candidates MUST be able to work for any U.S. employer without sponsorship or visa transfer, whether now or in the future.
