About The Role
Shamrock is looking for a Cloud Engineer II to design and implement secure best practice architecture in our public cloud environments. This position will also be accountable for the implementation and management of adjacent technologies.
What You’ll Do
- You will implement, with exceptional execution, transparent, light-weight processes and controls to ensure engineers can build safely on AWS with minimal oversight and intervention.
- You will implement, with exceptional execution, AWS cloud governance tooling and design (Control Tower, Organizations, Identity Center, IAM, Cost Explorer, etc)
- You will write and review advanced Terraform for the IT organization. This includes writing scalable, intuitive, and reusable code as well as administering Terraform Enterprise.
- You will write and review advanced Policy-as-Code across the IT organization
- You will serve as a technical escalation point for the Cloud Engineering team. You will help develop associate engineers and lead by example, demonstrating exceptional work ethic.
- You will collaborate with senior engineers to deliver new/novel cloud solutions to meet business goals, while maintaining a secure and efficient posture.
- Perform in depth cloud cost analysis trending and reporting to leadership.
- Perform complex troubleshooting and resolve technical issues.
- Take part in the development of technical processes and documentation.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support our cloud environments.
What You’ll Bring
- BA/BS degree in a technical field or evidence of exceptional ability.
- Must possess a passion for technology and take initiative to stay educated on the latest and most relevant technologies and methodologies.
- 3+ years of experience with implementing production IaaS and PaaS solutions in AWS. Ex:
- Control Tower
- AWS Organizations
- Identity Center / IAM
- VPC/EC2
- Ability to automate via scripting languages (ex. Python, bash, etc), configuration management tools (ex. Ansible) and orchestration systems (ex. Terraform)
- Advanced knowledge and experience with GitHub.
- Must possess initiative and analytical skills to resolve issues before they become critical.
- Must possess strong people skills and the ability to work as a team member, collaborating and partnering with others to address issues.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing, keeping the right people informed of relevant issues as well as understand and execute oral and written instructions.
- Able to adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment.
- Must have a propensity for gathering and sharing knowledge.
- Must be self-motivated, able to respond quickly when on-call, and willing to work outside core area.
- Functional Jenkins and Git skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional level AWS certification.
