Role Description The Technical SME – AWS / Azure / IaaS / Terraform is a Fulltime, on-site role based in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure solutions across AWS and Azure, with a focus on IaaS architectures and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform. Day-to-day activities include assessing current environments, defining cloud architectures, building and maintaining reusable templates, and ensuring secure, scalable, and cost-efficient deployments. The Technical SME collaborates with cross-functional teams, provides technical guidance and best practices, troubleshoots complex infrastructure issues, and supports migration and modernization initiatives. The role also involves documenting solutions, mentoring technical team members, and ensuring compliance with organizational and industry standards.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in public cloud platforms, including AWS and Azure, with hands-on experience in designing and managing IaaS solutions.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform, including module creation, state management, and CI/CD integration.
- Solid understanding of networking, security, and identity in cloud environments (VPC/VNet, firewalls, security groups, IAM/role-based access control).
- Experience with Linux/Windows server administration, virtualization, and containerization concepts (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes familiarity beneficial).
- Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tools and practices, as well as performance tuning and cost optimization in cloud infrastructures.
- Ability to gather requirements, create technical designs, write clear documentation, and communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Background in managing or supporting enterprise-scale IT environments; experience with migrations from on-premises to cloud is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator/Architect, or Terraform Associate are a plus.
