Our client is seeking a Puppet & Cloud Engineer (AWS, Google Cloud, On‑Premise Infrastructure. The Puppet & Cloud Engineer is responsible for architecting, automating, securing, and maintaining infrastructure across AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and on‑premise datacenter environments. This role focuses heavily on Puppet configuration management, hybrid cloud automation, and reliable, scalable infrastructure operations. The engineer helps build unified automation patterns across multi‑cloud and on‑premise systems, ensuring consistency, compliance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Puppet & Configuration Management
- Design, develop, and maintain Puppet modules, manifests, Hiera structures, classes, and automation pipelines.
- Manage on‑premise Puppet Enterprise / Puppet Open Source environments, including master/primary servers, compile masters, PuppetDB, code deployment, certificates, and agent lifecycle.
- Oversee on‑premise server configuration management to ensure consistent, secure, and compliant deployments across Windows and Linux nodes.
- Build and maintain Puppet-driven deployment workflows covering software provisioning, patching, environment drift control, middleware configuration, SQL‑related deployments, and infrastructure lifecycle automation.
- Integrate Puppet with CI/CD tools to create unified automation for AWS, GCP, and on‑premise systems.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Puppet runs, catalog compilations, class/role assignments, and environment promotions.
- Collaborate with security and operations teams to implement hardened baselines, compliance frameworks, and infrastructure governance using Puppet policies.
Cloud Engineering (AWS & Google Cloud)
- Architect, deploy, and maintain systems and services across AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
- Implement cloud-native automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, Deployment Manager, SDKs, and serverless patterns.
- Build and support cloud networking, IAM, compute, storage, logging, monitoring, and cost‑optimized architectures.
- Design hybrid connectivity (VPN, direct interconnect, identity federation, etc.) between cloud platforms and the on‑premise environment.
Infrastructure Automation & DevOps
- Build and maintain CI/CD automation pipelines for infrastructure deployment, testing, and configuration drift detection.
- Automate provisioning, scaling, monitoring, patching, remediation, and recovery workflows using Python, Bash, and cloud-native tooling.
- Collaborate with DevOps, application, networking, security, and database teams to modernize and standardize infrastructure operations.
Systems Engineering & Support
- Maintain and troubleshoot Linux and Windows systems across cloud and on-premise datacenters.
- Implement patching strategies, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure hardening.
- Provide Tier‑3 support for infrastructure incidents, with ownership of root‑cause analysis and long-term corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, systems automation, or infrastructure engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Puppet (master/agent architecture, module development, automation pipelines).
- Production experience with AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Experience with Terraform or other IaC tooling.
- Solid working knowledge of Linux systems administration and system hardening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration platforms.
- Familiarity with multi‑cloud networking, VPNs, zero-trust patterns, and hybrid identity systems.
- Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Engineer, or Puppet Certified Professional.
- Experience with GitOps workflows (ArgoCD, Flux), CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI), and advanced automation ecosystems.

- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and manage multiple concurrent projects.
Work Model
This role follows a hybrid work model, with most responsibilities able to be completed remotely. On‑site presence is typically required only a few times per year. Local candidates preferred.
