Razorpay is one of India’s leading full-stack financial technology companies, powering the
way businesses move, manage, and grow money. We process $180+ billion in annualized
transactions and power leading businesses across India, Singapore, and Malaysia. At
Razorpay, ownership is our oxygen you own what you build, with no micromanagement
or red tape.
As a DevOps Engineer, you are critical to the project’s overall success, right from planning to
supporting primary KPIs such as customer satisfaction and productivity. You have an
essential role in integrating project functions and resources across the product life cycle
from planning, building, testing, and deployment to support.
What you will build:
• Build and maintain cloud infrastructure environments on AWS, ensuring availability, performance, security, and scalability of production systems.
• Design repeatable, automated, and scalable processes to increase efficiency and improve software quality, managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and working on internal tooling that simplifies workflows.
• Collaborate with application teams to apply DevOps practices in the development
lifecycle.
• Automate and streamline operations and processes, including CI/CD pipelines, logging,
and monitoring stacks.
• Create solution prototypes and conduct proof of concepts for new tools.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues/outages and provide operational support, engaging
in incident handling with a culture of post-mortem and knowledge sharing.
• Use AI tools (Cursor, Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code) to accelerate
infrastructure tasks — generating boilerplate IaC (Terraform modules, Helm charts,Dockerfiles, CI pipelines), interpreting logs, and debugging failures 2x–3x faster than manual authoring.
What we are looking for:
• 1–3 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, currently practicing DevOps methodology.
• Proven experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
• Working knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration technologies.
• Hands-on experience with any Configuration Management tool like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
• Ability to do scripting in any one of Shell, Ruby, Perl, Python, or Golang.
• Troubleshooting and system engineering exposure in Linux production environments.
• Should be well versed with IaC, especially Terraform.
• Should be well versed with networking at AWS.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, Logging, and Monitoring stack.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while continuously evaluating emerging technologies.
• Strong communication and analytical/problem-solving skills.
• AI Competency — Prompt Engineering & Ambiguity: Ability to prompt AI to generate IaC (Terraform, Helm charts) from well-defined specifications, and iteratively re-prompt to fix syntax errors in YAML, HCL, or Dockerfiles.
• AI Competency — Infra Code Quality (Human-in-the-Loop): Does not blindly apply AI generated output; reviews generated IaC to ensure it matches intended topology. Uses AI to generate basic validation (terraform validate, helm lint, shellcheck).
• AI Competency — Velocity & Execution: Completes standard infra tasks (CI pipeline,
K8s deployment manifest, monitoring setup) significantly faster than manual authoring. Zero-friction switching between AI chat, IDE, terminal, and cloud console. Uses AI to interpret pod crash logs, terraform plan errors, and pipeline failures.
• AI Competency — Operational Awareness: Ensures AI-generated configs include health checks, resource requests/limits, and restart policies. Delivers working infra code with error handling and basic documentation.
Why this role is different :
• You will work at the intersection of fintech scale and cutting-edge AI-assisted infrastructure engineering. Razorpay processes $180+ billion annually every deployment, every pipeline, and every automation you build has massive real-world impact.
• We are an “AI First” organization. You will not just use AI as a productivity tool you will be expected to leverage it as a force multiplier for Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines,
observability, and operational automation, treating AI as an infrastructure pair programmer.
• You will have the runway to own what you build, propose new solutions, and influence
the DevOps culture across the organization.
• You will be managing infrastructure operations at the scale of a regulated financial institution (banking-grade operations), requiring strict security, reliability, and compliance standards.
Good to have (Optional):
• Experience in database technologies (MariaDB/MySQL).
• Have a few weekend side projects up on GitHub.
• Have contributed to an open-source project.
• Have worked at a product company.
• Have a working knowledge of a backend programming language.
