Description
As a Senior Cloud Infrastructure and FinOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping Verily’s cloud infrastructure strategy, supporting the FinOps Lead, and driving cost efficiency initiatives. You will lead efforts in gathering and analyzing cloud financial data, developing tools and dashboards, and optimizing cloud infrastructure for performance and cost-effectiveness. You will work across multiple cloud platforms and third-party tools to ensure data accuracy, cost management, and efficient operations. Your work will support strategic decision-making and empower Verily’s engineering teams with insights and solutions for cloud infrastructure and financial planning.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud infrastructure across GCP, AWS, and other platforms to support scalable and secure operations.
- Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Gather financial and usage data from various sources, including GCP, AWS, and GitHub for the creation and maintenance of comprehensive FinOps dashboards that provide actionable insights.
- Prepare and oversee budgets for different teams and projects, leveraging data analysis for informed decision-making and participate in forecasting exercises to predict future cloud costs and resource requirements.
- Drive initiatives to optimize resource usage and collaborate with the Product Engineering Cloud Operations (PECO) team to propose architectural changes that yield savings and implement cloud cost management best practices and align strategies with overall business goals.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5-7 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, FinOps, or financial analysis in a cloud environment.
- Proven experience in managing and optimizing cloud infrastructure across multiple platforms (GCP, AWS).
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud management tools (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes).
- Experience in creating dashboards and reports using tools such as Tableau, Looker, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant technical or financial field.
- Strong understanding of advanced cloud architecture and cost optimization practices.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams to align cloud spending with business and operational objectives.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial and technical data clearly.
- Familiarity with comprehensive budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis techniques.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $148,000 - $210,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
