Agency Overview:
The Executive Office for Administration & Finance IT (A&F IT) is a unit under the Executive Office for Administration & Finance (A&F) supporting IT systems and applications for 15 various A&F agencies. One of the key agencies within A&F IT Support is the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) which oversees over $2 billion in capital projects, and is responsible for capital planning, project delivery, property acquisitions, dispositions, management, and real estate services for the Commonwealth.
Position Summary
A&F IT Support is seeking a motivated, experienced, and hands-on DevOps Engineer with skills that span development and operations who can collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure smooth and reliable operations of software systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes. This is a hybrid role that requires expertise in a variety of disciplines including DevOps, Systems Administration, Cloud Systems Administration, Systems Engineering, and Automation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day administration, support and monitoring of applications and related services.
- Perform maintenance and service functions to support production and non-production infrastructure, including system installation, systems administration, patching and configuration and software upgrades.
- Maintain documentation of systems configurations, procedures, and changes.
- Provision and manage user accounts via system configurations such as setting permissions, security and access to applications and related services.
- System administration, such as managing servers, deploying databases, security monitoring, system patching, storage usage, and managing internal and external network connectivity.
- Configure security protocols such as SSL and installing SSL Certificates
- Submit and review SDR’s to open communication ports/paths between applications.
- Perform health checks and monitor system performance.
- Maintain and manage product licenses and coordinate renewals and installations if applicable.
- Create, manage, and monitor secure file transfers via MoveIT Transfer and manage the agencies MoveIT Servers.
- Manage and monitor cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Drive new initiatives to improve system monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure proactive issue detection and resolution.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize code delivery, ensuring code quality, security, and performance.
- SQL Server Database Administration, Configuration & SSIS Support
- Respond to reported application and infrastructure vulnerabilities and implement solutions.
- Perform analysis of unplanned events/incidents, review logs, identify potential problems, and develop effective solutions.
- Remain current with industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating, and recommending new tools and methodologies to enhance our DevOps practices.
- Provide technical assistance to development support staff as needed.
- Foster positive partnerships with user agencies and support vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Windows and Linux system administration with knowledge of installations, performance tuning, security, and shell scripting.
- Hands on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP
- Experience provisioning, configuring, and maintaining production and non-prod systems within the AWS ecosystem using services such as EC2, RDS, S3, FSx etc., and familiarity interacting with AWS API’s.
- Well-rounded development experience in any modern language (C#, HTML, CSS, Java, etc).
- Familiar with API development and maintenance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional/technical support teams.
- Experience with automation tools and techniques to support continuous integration, deployments, and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting data warehouse environments and processing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of Microsoft’s Power Platform
- Proficiency with Identity and Access Management solutions
- Knowledge of active directory, security concepts and authentication.
- Understanding of networking, security, and scalability principles along with networking protocols and concepts such as (TCP/IP, routing, DNS)
- Possess initiative and motivation to proactively manage tasks
- A willingness to learn supportive skills on the job.
The primary work location for this role will be 1 Ashburton Place, Boston, Massachusetts 02108. This position would be expected to follow a hybrid model of reporting to work that combines in-office workdays and work from home days as required. Occasional in state travel, weekend, and on-call support may be required.

Minimum Entrance Requirements
Applicants must have (A) at least two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional or practical experience in the field of information technology application development and support, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions
I. An Associate’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
II. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
