Senior Cloud Engineer
Our client, a global investment firm based in Boston, is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to support the migration of systems from traditional data centers to a Microsoft Azure cloud environment. This role requires expertise in cloud infrastructure, automation, and cloud migration strategies. The ideal candidate will work closely with IT and business teams to design, implement, and optimize scalable cloud solutions that align with business objectives. This is a hybrid role requiring three days on-site per week.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement cloud strategies, best practices, and operational standards
- Manage and optimize AWS infrastructure to support business growth and IT operations
- Oversee the migration of applications to the cloud, ensuring security, performance, and compliance requirements are met
- Promote the use of DevOps methodologies and automation to improve infrastructure management
- Provide technical expertise in cloud architecture and engineering to support ongoing projects
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance cloud service efficiency and scalability
- Develop internal processes and automation solutions to improve productivity and reduce manual efforts
- Participate in architectural discussions to design cost-effective, secure, and high-availability cloud solutions
- Design and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity solutions for cloud environments
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using infrastructure-as-code tools
- Ensure cloud systems meet performance, security, and capacity requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
- At least five years of IT experience, with at least two years working in AWS environments (experience with Azure is a plus)
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as IAM, EC2, Lambda, SNS, S3, SSM, SQS, CloudWatch, and KMS in a multi-account setup
- Strong background in managing Windows and Linux systems within cloud environments
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python (Golang is a plus)
- Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible
- Familiarity with infrastructure code generation and templating using tools like Terragrunt
- Understanding of policy-as-code frameworks such as Sentinel
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
- Knowledge of GitOps workflows and branching strategies
- Proficiency with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, ELK, Grafana, or Prometheus
- Experience with DevOps automation, including software testing, deployment, and infrastructure changes
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration
- Strong understanding of global networking topologies and zero-trust security frameworks
