Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile
tech leader to join our team. This role demands a combination of creativity, leadership, and technical expertise. The ideal candidate will contribute as an individual contributor initially and eventually take ownership of the design function as the organization scales. Flexibility to collaborate across time zones is crucial, as the team includes members based in Canada.
Responsibilities
Technology Leadership & Strategy:
- Define and execute the overall technology roadmap and ensure alignment with business goals.
- Make architectural decisions to scale AI-driven recommendations, real-time analytics, and high-traffic API services.
- Identify and implement best practices for security, performance, and scalability.
Backend & Infrastructure
- Design, develop, and maintain a scalable and high-performance backend using Django.
- Optimize PostgreSQL database performance and data modeling for analytics-heavy workloads.
- Deploy and manage applications on AWS, ensuring cost optimization and high availability.
- Implement DevOps best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization using Docker/Kubernetes.
AI & Data Engineering
- Collaborate with AI/ML teams to integrate machine learning models into the product.
- Build scalable data pipelines to process and analyze large-scale social media engagement data.
- Develop APIs that serve AI-driven recommendations to frontend applications.
Team Building & Leadership
- Hire, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team.
- Establish engineering best practices, code reviews, and a strong technical culture.
- Work cross-functionally with product, marketing, and sales teams to shape the product roadmap.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in backend development, cloud infrastructure, and data engineering.
- Expertise in Django, PostgreSQL, and scalable API development.
- Strong experience with AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, etc.).
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, caching strategies, and performance tuning.
- Experience in AI/ML integration and working with data pipelines.
- Familiarity with asynchronous task queues (Celery, Redis), event-driven architectures, and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Prior experience in hiring, managing, and scaling engineering teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building from the ground up.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
