Job Overview/Summary
We are seeking an experienced AWS Developer to play a key role in modernizing the Criminal Justice Exchange Program (CJEP) by developing cloud-native solutions on AWS. This role is not a DevOps or Cloud Engineer position but requires expertise in AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SOAP-based web services, and MTOM attachments. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile SCRUM environment to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS using services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3.
- Implement serverless architectures using AWS Lambda with Python.
- Build and orchestrate workflows using AWS Step Functions and AWS State Machines.
- Develop and integrate SOAP-based web services, including custom headers for authentication, security, and data integrity.
- Implement MTOM attachments (e.g., PDF) for efficient transmission of binary data in web services.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and cross-functional teams to refine user stories and iteratively deliver solutions.
- Ensure code quality, performance, and scalability through automated testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve development, testing, and production issues.
- Stay updated with the latest AWS services, tools, and best practices, sharing knowledge within the team.
Primary Skills
- Proven experience in AWS cloud development, specifically with Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3.
- Strong expertise in Python for cloud-based application development.
- Experience with AWS Step Functions and State Machines for workflow automation.
- Deep understanding of SOAP-based web services, including XML, XSD, WSDL, and related technologies.
- Hands-on experience in custom header implementation for authentication and security.
- Knowledge of MTOM attachments for handling binary data transmissions in web services.
Secondary Skills (Good To Have)
- AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and SCRUM framework.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 3+ years of experience as a software developer with cloud computing expertise.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
