Job Title: Mid-Level Google Cloud Engineer
Location: Mason, OH (5 Days a Week, No Remote Options)
LOA: 3-6m Contract to Hire
Start: ASAP
Process: 2-3 Interviews, Potential for onsite for local
Background
Two years ago, our client migrated our SAP instance to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in just nine months—without prior GCP expertise, only the knowledge that Google could host in the cloud. The migration was largely a lift-and-shift, and while it achieved its goal quickly, many components were not built using GCP best practices.
Since then, our client’s direction has been clear: move to the cloud wherever it makes sense. GCP is now our preferred platform, but its initial setup has created challenges for scalability, security, and governance. Some projects have been spun up without oversight, and our Cloud Governance Team is now tasked with restructuring GCP to align with best practices.
To achieve this, we are building a Cloud Governance team and hiring dedicated experts—including Cloud Architects and security-focused cloud engineers—who will ensure our cloud environment is structured correctly and securely from the ground up. This role will not require deep security specialization but will demand GCP Security Engineer certification and strong, hands-on GCP expertise to support secure, compliant, and scalable operations.
Position Overview
Our client seeking a Mid-Level Google Cloud Engineer to join their new Cloud Governance team. This role will focus on re-architecting and optimizing our GCP environment for long-term stability, security, and scalability. You will collaborate with architects, security engineers, and operations teams to design and implement solutions following GCP best practices—ensuring governance and security considerations are baked into every project.

- Review and remediate existing GCP resources to align with governance and security standards.
- Collaborate with developers to build secure CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native applications.
- Ensure IAM roles, service accounts, and policies adhere to least-privilege principles.
- Support ongoing cloud security monitoring and incident response (not as a security SME but with strong GCP security awareness).
- Maintain documentation of standards, patterns, and architectures.
Qualifications Required:
- 3–5 years of hands-on Google Cloud Platform experience.
- GCP Professional Cloud Security Engineer certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months).
- Proficiency in Terraform, Cloud SDK, and GCP console.
