This position is with a leading global alternatives firm with over $27B in assets under management is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to help manage its systems environment, enhance observability, and drive automation to improve infrastructure scalability.
This role offers the opportunity to collaborate directly with investment, risk, and trading teams, leveraging advanced technologies to optimize critical processes. You will be the 4th hire in the DevOps Engineering group.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and optimize Linux-based systems with a solid grasp of OS-level architecture and performance tuning.
- Develop and maintain Unix shell scripts to support system operations, automation, and deployment tasks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues by dissecting complex problems into actionable solutions.
- Query and manage data within relational databases such as Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL.
- Implement and monitor system performance, resource utilization, and reliability using modern monitoring tools.
- Build and maintain infrastructure using automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
- Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable delivery of software updates.
- Leverage scripting and software development skills, ideally in Python, to streamline processes and system operations.
- Manage and deploy containerized applications using Docker and orchestrate them using Kubernetes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure systems are secure, scalable, and aligned with organizational goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Exposure to Windows Server environments is a plus.
- Experience working within cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with industry-standard monitoring tools and proactive in identifying and resolving system issues.
