About The Role
As an AWS DevOps Engineer you will make an impact by playing a critical role in building and maintaining scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure. Your contributions will directly impact the reliability and performance of customer-facing applications, ensuring seamless conversational experiences across platforms. You will be a valued member of the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and work collaboratively with our Senior Manager.
In this role, you will
- Design, configure, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure using services such as EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, IAM, and more.
- Build and maintain Kafka, Zookeeper, and other core components of the Conversation Platform.
- Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, and Maven to support automated deployment and release processes.
- Automate infrastructure tasks including AMI refreshes and traffic switch pipelines for production and non-production environments.
- Implement disaster recovery procedures and backup strategies using EC2 Lifecycle Manager and other AWS tools.
- Monitor system performance and ensure compliance with enterprise standards.
- Support containerized application deployment and maintenance using scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Shell.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure scalability and reliability.
Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Richmond, VA. What You Need To Have To Be Considered
- 6+ years of proven experience with AWS services including EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, CloudFormation, IAM, and Auto Scaling.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka, Zookeeper, and container orchestration tools.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Perl, or Shell.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
