Job Purpose
The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure to support enterprise technology needs. This role requires a proactive professional who can work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams, including development, DevOps, security, and operations. The Cloud Engineer will manage the full lifecycle of cloud environments, with a focus on performance optimization, security, automation, and cost efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage large-scale, complex cloud infrastructure solutions across AWS and Azure.
- Develop and implement technical strategies that align with business objectives, ensuring performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct architecture reviews and assessments to validate compliance with best practices and organizational standards.
- Collaborate with Development, DevOps, and Security teams to optimize cloud environments for application reliability and security.
- Serve as a primary escalation point for system support, troubleshooting, and resolving performance or connectivity issues in hybrid cloud environments.
- Build and maintain automation scripts, infrastructure as code (IaC), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement cloud security best practices and actively monitor environments for vulnerabilities and incidents.
- Research emerging cloud technologies and recommend new tools or approaches to improve infrastructure.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including deployment plans, cost models, and operational procedures.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, governance frameworks, and security policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience engineering and supporting AWS and Azure environments.
- Proven expertise deploying and managing services such as Application Gateway, Containers, Kubernetes, S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS, and related cloud-native services.
- Strong proficiency with automation tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
- AWS and/or Azure certifications (Associate or Professional level preferred, ideally DevOps-focused).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, including VPC, DNS, VPN, NAT, subnet management, and monitoring with tools such as CloudWatch.
- Experience working with REST APIs, VPC Endpoints, ECS, and a variety of database and caching services.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Ansible, or similar languages.
- Knowledge of cloud security, IAM policy management, governance, and compliance practices.
- Experience with DevOps methodologies and CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with SaaS transformation, microservices architectures, and well-architected frameworks for AWS and Azure.
- Experience with issue-tracking and documentation tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Excellent communication, prioritization, and analytical skills with a strong sense of ownership.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality solutions.
